Callum Styles shines, 4/10 flops yet again – West Brom player ratings vs QPR
West Brom secured a 2-1 victory at home to QPR in the final game of 2025.
Ryan Mason’s future was hanging by a thread ahead of the clash with QPR, though he may have bought himself some extra time in the dugout with a crucial three points.
George Campbell scored his first goal in Albion colours to give his side the lead after one of many dangerous corners from Callum Styles.
However, another example of awful defending saw the visitors level the scoring 10 minutes later, via an Ousmane Diakite own goal.
The Baggies improved after the break, with Nat Phillips sending a bullet header beyond Ben Hamer to restore Albion’s lead.
QPR barely laid a glove on West Brom from there on, with the Baggies able to hold out for a final three points of the year.

Styles was unplayable vs QPR
Styles hasn’t always had the consistency at West Brom, but when he plays well, he offers a lot to this side, just as he did against QPR.
His set-pieces caused issues all night, and it was his delivery that allowed Campbell to grab his first West Brom goal.
- Two chances created
- 75% cross accuracy
- 80% ground duels won
- 60% aerial duels won
- Four tackles
- One clearance
However, the Hungary international offered plenty at both ends of the pitch, which will come as no surprise given he was played on his favoured left side.

Styles won his defensive battles, offered an outlet in transition, and has certainly showcased to Mason why he shouldn’t be played in midfield, despite the fact that he has featured there regularly.
Diakite offers nothing to West Brom
Ousmane Diakite has been a regular for West Brom under Mason, having started 12 of the 19 games he has featured in this season.
However, the Malian midfielder has failed to impress in the majority of those appearances, and it was the same against QPR, without even mentioning the own goal.
Diakite was guilty of gifting possession back to the opponent on far too many occasions, while offering little of a progressive nature on the times he actually kept the ball.
Throughout his time with Albion, his work rate has been phenomenal, but the quality is so evidently lacking.
