West Brom declare player unfit, but he’s told ex-Baggies star otherwise as bizarre situation unfolds

Tammer Bany’s West Brom career has been a complete disaster.

Bany signed for West Brom for £3.3million from Danish side Randers at the start of this year, yet he has been unable to find any sort of momentum in the Black Country.

Bany has suffered injury issues since his arrival, and supporters have started to question whether he will ever be a success at The Hawthorns.

However, even though it has been confirmed that he is set for a longer spell on the sidelines, he allegedly told ex-West Brom star Daryl Burgess that he was fit enough to be involved in Ryan Mason’s matchday squads.

Tammer Bany to see injury specialist despite his own claims that he recovered

Bany has huge potential at West Brom, yet his fitness has always been a concern, and he remains unavailable with a muscle injury.

However, according to former Baggies star Burgess, Bany told him on 16 December that he is ready to get a chance in the team after multiple spells on the sidelines.

Express & Star journalist Lewis Cox has since confirmed on 29 December that the Jordan international will see a specialist after being declared not fit enough to train.

He has been involved in two U21 matches for Albion in an effort to sharpen his match fitness, and also came on in the dying minutes of West Brom’s 3-2 loss to QPR on 6 December.

His only goal contribution in five first-team appearances for West Brom came in the 2-0 win over Oxford United on 22 February, where he teed up John Swift in the 101st minute.

Bany was surprisingly called up to the Jordan squad in November, and he will be desperate to recover in time for the 2026 World Cup, where he could play an influential role for his country.

The 22-year-old can not do much more to improve his fitness, but if he were fully fit, he would provide great cover across the front line.

Tammer Bany would give Karlan Grant some much-needed competition

Bany has featured on the right wing for the U21s, while coming for Karlan Grant on the left in the QPR loss.

He has also featured up front at times, but he would certainly be beneficial as an understudy for Grant.

The 28-year-old has scored two goals in the last four games and is beginning to find his feet after a woeful start to the season.

However, it’s clear that his place in the team is relatively unchallenged, with Samuel Iling-Junior dropping out of the starting contention in the last month.

The Baggies need more players to chip in, and the goalscoring burden can’t just fall on Aune Heggebo.

Whenever Bany does return to first-team action, he could provide a different type of attacking threat to the inconsistent Grant.
