Amario Cozier-Duberry to replace ‘woeful’ West Brom man as January loan move still possible
Amario Cozier-Duberry could be a game-changing signing if West Brom manage to get a deal done in January.
West Brom have been linked with a loan move for Cozier-Duberry, who is currently out on loan with Bolton Wanderers from Brighton.
The winger has been lighting League One up with Bolton and has helped his side get into a healthy spot to challenge for the Play-offs.
West Brom are still hopeful of achieving promotion, despite being way off the pace, but one forward in particular could be holding Ryan Mason back.
Karlan Grant’s time at West Brom should be over in January
Karlan Grant‘s time at The Hawthorns hasn’t lived up to expectations since he made a big-money move to the Albion back in 2020.
The versatile forward has been able to get back to full fitness this season, but has still let Mason down on several occasions.
- Grant has played 19 games in the Championship
- He has just two goals
- Grant is yet to pick up an assist either
Tony Brown previously criticised Grant for poor decision-making in Albion’s 1-1 draw with Stoke City last season, when the attacker opted for a shot rather than passing to Jed Wallace.
Last January, Brown said: “I always say to you – if you’ve got a chance of a strike, have a go – but that was woeful.
“[Grant] got right under it, it’s gone over the bar, and Jed Wallace was in a good position in that inside right slot.”
Given the 28-year-old’s unconvincing outings for Mason, Cozier-Duberry could be the man to replace him, and this is how.
Ryan Mason’s tactical change with potential Amario Cozier-Duberry signing
Grant has always offered West Brom versatility over the years, and has played across the front three many of times.
Mason seems to prefer the Englishman on the left, the same position that Grant has featured at the majority of his time with the Baggies.
But Cozier-Duberry‘s proposed loan arrival would most likely see him feature off the right, where the youngster can utilise his dangerous left foot from cutting inside.
Mikey Johnston often plays on the right, but after taking up central positions for Mason recently, Cozier-Duberry’s spot at right wing may already be cemented.
Isaac Price will surely get back to his best, and Mason could be tempted to put Johnston on the left if Cozier-Duberry signs.
