Reyes Cleary price tag leaves January suitors ‘shocked’ as West Brom sale now looks silly
West Brom may regret offloading Reyes Cleary after what is being claimed about his asking price.
West Brom sold Cleary to Barnsley in the summer after the young winger had only made seven senior appearances for the club.
Cleary was highly rated at West Brom, but despite that, the 21-year-old decided he wanted to play regular first-team football elsewhere, and he’s managed that at the Tykes.
The winger has produced five goals and six assists in 17 League One appearances this term, becoming one of the divisions most sought-after talents.
How impressed have you been with Reyes Cleary this season, #BarnsleyFC fans? 💫

Barnsley want £5m for former West Brom winger Reyes Cleary
While some were surprised when the Englishman left The Hawthorns in July, West Brom did insert a sell-on clause in Cleary’s contract, and that is turning out to be a smart decision.
Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers tabled a substantial six-figure offer for the youngster at the end of December, and Barnsley instantly turned that down.
Alan Nixon has now revealed via his Patreon that the Yorkshire side want a stunning £5million for Cleary after Rovers tabled a £1m bid plus add-ons.
Blackburn are said to be ‘shocked’ by the asking price placed on his head, and so will Albion, who sold the talented wide man for a nominal fee in the summer.
Indeed, Ryan Mason should have kept Cleary as part of his long-term plans after watching him tear it up for Barnsley in the third tier.
What Conor Hourihane has said about Cleary
West Brom are edging closer to the relegation places in the Championship rather than challenging for the play-offs, and Mason has been placed under immense pressure.
Cleary’s presence may have not done much to change their fortunes, but former Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane has waxed lyrical about the winger.

Speaking after his incredible halfway line goal against Bradford City in October, the Barnsley head coach said: “I knew it had a chance but I wasn’t sure it would go in. The skill to see it and execute it and have the courage to do it. Full credit to him, it will be all over social media and he will get plaudits.
“I have never seen a goal like that, I just felt the whole place stood still and waited. It was unique.
“Credit to Reyes, he’s been a breath of fresh air and earned his right to play. He looks sharp, electric and a threat. We needed more pace at the top of the pitch. He’s took the opportunity with both hands.”
