Ryan Mason recalls Jayson Molumby, summer signing axed – West Brom predicted XI vs Leicester

Ryan Mason will likely make a host of changes when West Brom face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Monday night.

West Brom‘s 1-0 loss to Swansea City on Thursday leaves them 18th in the Championship table, and their underwhelming season continues to get worse under Mason.

Mason remains under intense pressure, but a win over a Leicester side that has been inconsistent under Marti Cifuentes would undoubtedly be a step in the right direction.

The Baggies have lost nine consecutive away games, and if that record doesn’t end on 5 January, then the 34-year-old could be sacked.

Mason has had injury issues to contend with this season, although Jayson Molumby is certainly fit enough to return to the starting line-up as Mason eyes up three changes.

Jayson Molumby to replace Ousmane Diakite in three changes vs Leicester City

Having played alongside many different midfield partners over the years, Molumby looks to be partnered with a reliable one in Alex Mowatt.

Ousmane Diakite’s mistake against Swansea proved to be incredibly costly, and it would be a huge surprise if he isn’t dropped for the Republic of Ireland international.

Molumby came on for Diakite in midweek and was by far the standout player in an otherwise disappointing display from the Baggies.

Samuel Iling-Junior‘s loan move from Aston Villa has failed spectacularly.

Having started against Swansea, Iling-Junior came under huge criticism for his ineffective performance out wide.

As a result, Isaac Price could return to the starting line-up, with Mikey Johnston moving back to the right wing.

The other change should see Krystian Bielik come into central defence in place of Charlie Taylor.

West Brom predicted XI vs Leicester

Mason will likely continue to select Aune Heggebo, although the Norwegian striker’s form in front of goal has dried up.

West Brom’s overreliance on Aune Heggebo has papered over the cracks

Heggebo was in excellent form at the end of 2025, but he is without a goal in his last four games.

When the Baggies beat Swansea 3-2 at The Hawthorns on 29 November, he single-handedly dragged the team back into a match where defeat could have been the end of Mason’s reign.

With eight league goals this season, he has certainly been a shining light, but he looks to have run out of steam.

Mason hasn’t found a successful formula in B71, and with time running out, Heggebo is the most likely man to drag him out of trouble again.

If he does so, fans still won’t be disillusioned by a couple of wins, as the tide has now completely turned on Mason.
