Former West Brom star reacts as manager sack announced in 106-word statement

Ex-West Brom player James McClean was one among many who reacted to the news of Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United dismissal on Monday.

McClean left West Brom in 2018 after a three-year stint, in a move which saw him join Championship promotion rivals Stoke City.

The Irishman has since played for Wigan Athletic and Wrexham, helping the latter progress up the football leagues and into England’s second tier.

McClean was and still is a divisive figure, to say the least, and may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but his left foot did provide an occasional moment of magic for the Albion.

Following the news regarding Amorim‘s sacking, the former Baggies star took to social media to react.

McClean’s time at West Brom may have been seen as slightly underwhelming, as the versatile left-winger departed the summer after failing to keep Albion in the Premier League.

He joined the Black Country club from Wigan in 2015 for a fee worth £1.5million, and his statistics prove that the money may have been better spent on someone else.

Amorim was sacked by Man United after his post-match outburst following a 1-1 draw to Leeds United at Elland Road in the Premier League on Sunday.

Pressure had been building on the 40-year-old, with internal figures now making the major move to dismiss the former Sporting CP head coach.

After Manchester United made a 106- word announcement on their Instagram to announce Amorim’s departure, McClean liked the post.

But the sackings may not stop there, with a crucial period ahead for West Brom and Ryan Mason in particular.

Why Ryan Mason could be next Championship manager to be sacked

Shilen Patel will be in attendance to watch West Brom’s game against Leicester City on Monday, in a crucial game for Mason as head coach.

The 34-year-old has quickly fallen out of favour among the Albion supporters, and many fans have already stated their preferences for successors.

Michael Carrick has been linked to The Hawthorns in recent weeks, with Carlos Corberan also tipped for a dramatic West Brom return.

The signs indicate that Mason could be sacked if West Brom lose to Leicester, so Amorim may not be the only one to receive a payout this week.
