Shilen Patel clarity shared hours before West Brom crunch showdown with Leicester
Shilen Patel was rumoured to be attending West Brom’s clash with Leicester on Monday evening, but that does not seem to be the case.
Ryan Mason is under severe pressure at West Brom, after a dismal run of two wins from their last seven matches in the Championship.
The Bilkul Football chief was reported to be flying over from the United States, with the ex-Tottenham coach’s future up in the air in the trip to the King Power Stadium on 5 January.
Now, Patel‘s whereabouts have been revealed hours before the game amid the speculation that the axe is looming over Mason.
Will Shilen Patel be attending Leicester vs West Brom?
Patel’s attendance could have meant it was curtains for Mason at West Brom, but it appears that it was nothing more than rumour.
BBC WM’s Steve Hermon revealed on 5 January that he will not be at the match, and will be watching it from a much warmer climate.
That suggests that the Baggies chairman and owner will remain in the United States, or somewhere abroad, that is not cold like Leicester.
He did share in a later update that Patel would be flying over later this month.

Why Mason could still be sacked despite Patel not attending Leicester clash
Patel may well make the final call on Mason’s job, but given that sporting director Andrew Nestor is based in the United Kingdom, he may be the man to deliver the news.
Therefore, the fact that Patel is not in attendance on Monday is not that big of a deal, and the decision can be made then communicated to the troubled manager if that is necessary.
Mason could still lose his job, especially if the Baggies lose even more ground on the playoffs with a defeat against Marti Cifuentes’ side.
Albion are 10 points away from the final playoff spot at the moment, but things can change quickly in the second-tier, and a run of wins could change that.
Mason needs to hope that they start to change soon, or he may well be on borrowed time at The Hawthorns, as surely it cannot go on, the way it is at the minute.
