Stephen Martin makes unbelievable error after West Brom incident vs Leicester City

West Brom were potentially robbed of a penalty against Leicester City in the Championship on Monday.

The King Power Stadium hosted Ryan Mason’s team on 5 January, with Stephen Robinson taking charge of the game as the on-field referee.

Jordan Ayew beat Josh Griffiths in the 18th minute to give the Foxes the lead, but Karlan Grant managed to equalise with a brilliant finish before the break, with Abdul Fatawu then scoring at the death in the 2-1 loss for the visitors.

However, the Baggies will feel like they should’ve had an opportunity to find the back of the net from the spot in the opening 45 minutes after a foul on Aune Heggebo.

Curtis Davies and Luke Chambers agree on West Brom penalty vs Leicester City

Former Ipswich Town defender Luke Chambers is certain that West Brom should’ve been awarded a penalty when Hamza Choudhury pushed Heggebo in the box, leading to a collision with Jakub Stolarczyk.

Ex-Baggies centre-back Curtis Davies agreed with the assessment and can’t believe the referee didn’t see the incident.

It looks like the Foxes got away with it at the King Power Stadium, and the Albion certainly have a case to be aggrieved by the loss.

Speaking on Sky Sports Football on 5 January, Chambers said, “For me it’s a penalty, and I know how difficult it is as a defender.”

Davies responded, “If I’m going up for that as a defensive header and I feel that slight nudge, I want a foul. So the fact that he not only pushes him when he’s about to head the ball, he wipes out three people with one push as well. I can’t believe the ref hasn’t seen that or at least the linesman. The fact that it wasn’t picked up, he gets away with it.”

Shilen Patel wasn’t in attendance to watch West Brom, but wherever the American owner may have been, he will surely want answers from the officials.

Ryan Mason has credit in the bank after loss vs Leicester City

Mason is one of the favourites to get sacked in the Championship after their underwhelming results in recent weeks, but the English manager will feel he’s safe.

The Baggies ended up dropping points away from The Hawthorns against Leicester, but the players on the pitch showed that they were playing for the manager.

Mason’s Championship record this season

It’s clear the squad still has confidence in the former Tottenham assistant head coach, as evidenced by the effort they put in at the King Power Stadium.

While the results haven’t gone in the Albion’s favour of late, Bilkul Football will undoubtedly take into account what the players feel about Mason.
