West Brom-linked manager’s wife reveals ‘beginning of a new chapter’ on Instagram
Bilkul Football are beginning their third search for a West Brom manager since becoming owners of the club in February 2024.
After Monday night’s heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Leicester, Ryan Mason was sacked by West Brom on Tuesday morning.
The 34-year-old leaves The Hawthorns having won nine out of 26 matches, and going on a record-breaking run of away defeats not seen in almost a century.
As a result, Andrew Nestor is being tasked by Shilen Patel to find Mason’s successor.
Raphael Wicky’s future decided after West Brom links
Although Michael Carrick is currently the favourite to take charge at West Brom, Nestor has had his sights set on other managers in the past when he’s had to deal with Carlos Corberan and Tony Mowbray leaving the Black Country club.
After Corberan quit West Brom to join Valencia in December 2024, Nestor wanted to hire Swiss manager Raphael Wicky.
Unfortunately, a deal broke down because one of the coaches Wicky wanted on his staff was unable to get a work permit.
But can Nestor now make a renewed effort to hire the former BSC Young Boys manager?
| Manager | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goals For | Goals Against | Points won |
| Tony Mowbray | 17 | 5 | 4 | 8 | 19 | 22 | 19 |
| Ryan Mason | 26 | 9 | 4 | 13 | 29 | 35 | 31 |
Sadly, it’s too late.
MLS club Sporting Kansas City have announced Wicky as their new manager in the last 24 hours, with the Swiss boss replacing Peter Vermes in charge ahead of the 2026 season.

Wicky’s wife, Laura Junker-Wicky, has since taken to Instagram to share a picture of her, her husband and their baby at Sporting KC, saying: “The beginning of a new chapter.”

James Morrison made interim manager – what’s his management record?
When West Brom announced that Mason had been fired on Tuesday, they also confirmed that James Morrison will become the club’s new interim manager.
It’s a role that the 39-year-old found himself in at the back end of last season after Mowbray’s spell at The Hawthorns was cut short.
As caretaker boss, Morrison oversaw a 0-0 draw with Cardiff City, a result which relegated the Welsh club to League One.
In the final day of the 2024/25 Championship season, Morrison then led West Brom to a 5-3 win over Luton Town, which then saw them drop into the third tier.
