Andrew Nestor welcomes second new face to West Brom after Eric Ramsay appointment

West Brom announced the appointment of Eric Ramsay from Minnesota United on Sunday.

Shilen Patel decided to sack Ryan Mason following a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City, as he and Andrew Nestor went back to the drawing board to find a successor.

West Brom were regressing under Mason, and hopes of reaching the Championship play-offs this season have been damaged.

However, following Ramsay’s arrival at The Hawthorns, Baggies fans will look forward to a potential push up the Championship table.

Andrew Nestor welcomes Dennis Lawrence to West Brom

The Albion will be hoping to see an improvement in results and performances under Ramsay, with his first game in charge set to take place against Middlesbrough at The Hawthorns on Friday.

The former Manchester United first-team coach will have a couple of days to prepare for the clash with Boro, as a win against second in the table would send a statement to the rest of the Championship.

But it’s not only Ramsay who has arrived at West Brom, but his trusted assistant, Dennis Lawrence.

After the Baggies confirmed the appointment of Ramsay on social media, Nestor then took to X to also personally welcome Lawrence.

Nestor wrote: “A warm welcome to Eric and Dennis to the Albion.”

Nestor and Co. seem to be delighted that Ramsay is coming to West Brom with someone as experienced as Lawrence.

What Dennis Lawrence can offer West Brom

Lawrence played centre-back during his lengthy career for the likes of Wrexham, Swansea City, and Crewe Alexandra.

He specialises in defensive solidarity and will have a strong influence on how West Brom sets up while defending set-pieces.

The 51-year-old holds a UEFA Pro Licence and will look to utilise his multiple experiences as a coach to aid Albion.

Lawrence has spent time coaching with Wigan under Roberto Martinez, and was the head coach for Trinidad and Tobago’s national team, as well as a first-team coach with Coventry City, before moving to America.

He and Ramsay have spent vital time together in the MLS, and have every chance to hit the ground running on Friday under the lights.
