West Brom’s 6ft 6 defender heads to Sweden ahead of potential transfer

Eric Ramsay looks to have already started a squad rebuild at West Brom before he has even taken charge of a single game.

Ramsay was appointed by West Brom on Sunday, coming in as Ryan Mason’s replacement at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies currently sit 18th in the Championship, just seven points clear of the relegation zone, meaning the 34-year-old has a big job on his hands to turn the situation around.

Ramsay’s first game comes on Friday evening against Middlesbrough, but one player in his squad may be unavailable for selection as he seeks a move away.

Michael Parker on trial in Sweden

West Brom signed Michael Parker back in September 2024 following his exit from Burnley, but the 21-year-old is yet to play a single minute for the senior side.

The 21-year-old has spent time on loan at Hereford this season, but could now be set for a move abroad.

According to Goteborgs-Posten, Swedish side Orgryte are interested in Parker and could potentially bring him in during the January window, although it is not clear yet whether that would be on loan or permanently.

The six-foot-six centre-back is set to have a trial with the Allsvenskan outfit, before potentially signing ahead of the new season in Sweden, which starts in February.

Who could West Brom sign in January?

Ramsay has come in from MLS side Minnesota United, and one of his former players could be making the switch to The Hawthorns as well.

West Brom are reportedly keen on midfielder Nectar Triantis, someone who has already thrived under the management of the new Baggies boss.

The 22-year-old joined Sunderland back in 2023 as a defender, but struggled to break through at the Stadium of Light despite two promising loan spells at Hibernian.

Triantis was then signed by Ramsay’s Minnesota United in the summer of 2025, with the Welshman deploying him as a central midfielder instead.

In the second half of the 2025 MLS season, Triantis made 10 appearances, scoring three goals and grabbing two assists.

West Brom fans will hope that Ramsay can get the best out of the Greek international once again if he does end up moving to The Hawthorns.
