Sebastian Jurado on West Brom shortlist, summer transfer most likely
Sebastian Jurado could be the man to resolve West Brom’s goalkeeping issues.
Ryan Mason was not convinced by Josh Griffiths, and replaced him with Joe Wildsmith, before restoring the 24-year-old to his line-up.
Eric Ramsay faces a similar dilemma after being appointed as West Brom’s new boss, and it remains to be seen whether either stopper can convince him.
Now, the Mexican has emerged as a potential target for The Hawthorns outfit.
West Brom interested in Jurado as transfer timeframe emerges
Both West Brom goalkeepers have underperformed this season, which will concern Ramsay as he tries to revive Albion’s season.
Claro Sports journalist Daniel Reyes Villasenor claimed on 16 January that the Baggies have Jurado on their shortlist for the goalkeeping position.
He stated that Queens Park Rangers are also interested in the 28-year-old, who could be set for a move in the summer.
That tracks with the latest on the Baggies transfer window, which suggests that they will not have much available to reinforce Ramsay’s squad this month.
Who is West Brom target Sebastian Jurado?
Jurado is a Mexican goalkeeper, who plays for Liga MX side Juarez.
He started his career with his hometown club Veracruz, before moving to Cruz Azul in 2024.
He joined his current club on loan in 2024, before making the move permanent in 2025, and has made 64 appearances for the Braves so far.
Jurado spent a month of loan with Pachuca in June 2025, so he could participate in the FIFA Club World Cup, where he played the full 90 minutes of the 2-0 loss to Al Hilal.
Sebastian Jurado factfile:
- Date of birth: 28 September 1997 (age 28)
- Place of birth: Heroica Veracruz, Mexico
- Position: Goalkeeper
- Former clubs: Veracruz, Cruz Azul, Pachuca
- Current club: Juarez
- International career: Capped for Mexico U21s, U22s and U23s
He is an experienced keeper with plenty of top-flight experience in his home country, who is capable of decent shot-stopping and commanding his area, and may be an upgrade on the Throstles’ current options between the sticks.
The Baggies have lacked that so far this season, so if they can get him in, it may be a deal that makes sense depending on the finances involved.
Albion are expected to be in a better financial position for the next campaign, so the fact that he is allegedly available in the summer could benefit them, as they will be able to afford him.
