Sebastian Jurado sources speak out as West Brom eye first deal for Eric Ramsay

West Brom have been linked with signing FC Juarez goalkeeper Sebastian Jurado.

Jurado has been reported as being on West Brom’s shortlist, as Eric Ramsay looks to stamp his authority on Albion’s squad.

Ramsay’s tenure at The Hawthorns got off to a frustrating start on Friday night, as West Brom were beaten 3-2 by Middlesbrough.

Boro had gone two nil up just before the hour mark, but West Brom were able to bring it back to 2-2 with 10 minutes to play thanks to goals from Isaac Price and Jed Wallace.

However, Albion hearts would be broken, as Delano Burgzorg slammed home the winning goal in the 90th minute of the game, meaning it’s now three Championship defeats in a row.

Sebastian Jurado to West Brom rumours shut down

It’s been a frustrating month transfers-wise for West Brom, with no new arrivals through the door as of yet.

Ramsay may not have any money to spend this month either, with West Brom expecting to post further financial losses when their 2024-25 accounts are made public in the next few weeks.

As such, if there is business to be done, then it’s going to have to be shrewd deals, with the loan and free agent market possibly Albion’s only avenues to source new recruits.

With another three goals shipped on Friday night, finding an upgrade on Josh Griffiths may be in order this month, and FC Juarez goalkeeper Jurado has been linked with the Baggies recently.

However, as per a report from TVC Deportes and quoted by reporter Diego Garcia via X, sources close to the 28-year-old have confirmed they know nothing of the supposed interest from West Brom.

Why new goalkeeper signing has to be a West Brom priority

Albion have chopped and changed between Josh Griffiths and Joe Wildsmith as the starting goalkeeper this season, with the former making 20 Championship appearances and the latter seven.

However, despite Griffiths having won that battle, he’s not done enough to make the starting gloves his on a long-term basis.

As per Sofascore, the 24-year-old is averaging just a 6.69 rating per game, conceding an average of 1.4 goals per match, and has registered a save percentage of just 64 per cent.

Therefore, despite him still being relatively young for a goalkeeper and time is on his side to improve, if West Brom are to start looking upwards under Ramsay, then they must have a solid foundation to build from in goal.

Unfortunately, Griffiths just isn’t providing the team with that at this moment in time.
