TNT Sports told to ‘do better’ after West Brom Women howler live on air

West Brom Women were in Women’s FA Cup fourth round action against Everton on Thursday.

Siobhan Hodgetts-Still‘s side took a break from league action on 15 January, as they took on WSL side Everton at Alexander Stadium.

West Brom Women had begun their FA Cup journey back in October, when they breezed past Solihull 3-0 in the first round.

Victories over Cambridge United and Leeds Ladies followed, before drawing Brian Sorensen’s side in the fourth round, in what was always going to be a tough as for Albion.

TNT Sports called out for West Brom Women mistake

Unfortunately for West Brom, Everton’s WSL quality would show, as they ran out 5-0 winners on Thursday night.

A double from Yuka Momiki, and strikes from Ornella Vignola, Toni Payne and Issy Hobson ensured an emphatic victory for the away side, and leaves Albion to focus purely on their league campaign.

The match was broadcast on TNT Sports, and during the game, a rather embarrassing mistake was made by the commentary team that downplayed West Brom’s status in the Women’s football pyramid.

As picked up on and posted to his X account, Football Manager researcher for Women’s football Craig Hadley said: “Just heard the commentator say West Brom Women are in the sixth tier on TNT Sports.

“They are in fact in tier 3. Do better.”

West Brom Women were incorporated by the club entirely in June 2024, and Hodgetts-Still was made the first full-time manager of the Women’s team in February 2025.

Despite their FA Cup exit, West Brom Women are still on for a strong season in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier division.

Having finished seventh in the league last season, Hodgetts-Still’s side are currently occupying fifth place, and just two points behind Stoke in fourth.

Their next game is an away trip against the Potters too, which will take place on the 1 February at Wellbeing Park in a 2pm kick-off.

West Brom’s season ends on the 26 April with an away clash against Middlesbrough, with Albion now realistically in a battle for fourth, but could chase down Rugby Borough in third if they suffer a complete collapse.

They certainly appear to be a team on the up, and with the Women’s team now part of the club as whole, their exposure and funding will hopefully only increase, and possibly help enable them to start pushing for promotion.
