Bilkul must act now as Eric Ramsay’s worst fears could be realised at West Brom
West Brom have somehow slid even closer to the Championship relegation zone after the latest round of matches.
Eric Ramsay took charge of his first game on Friday night, but West Brom were beaten 3-2 by Middlesbrough at The Hawthorns.
Charlie Taylor’s own goal and Sam Silvera’s low strike fired the visitors into a two-goal lead, but Ramsay’s side fought back through Isaac Price and then Jed Wallace.
However, it wasn’t to be for the Baggies, with Delano Burgzorg’s late winner condemning them to their third successive Championship defeat.
West Brom in real relegation danger
West Brom’s defeat on Friday was made worse by the fact that so many of their relegation rivals picked up positive results on Saturday.
Ramsay must have been covering his eyes as the scores came in, with Norwich City, Portsmouth, and Charlton all picking up three points.
It means that the Baggies are now just four points clear of the bottom three, with both Blackburn and Pompey below them having games in hand.
| Position | Team | Games | Points |
| 19 | West Brom | 27 | 31 |
| 20 | Blackburn | 26 | 28 |
| 21 | Portsmouth | 25 | 28 |
| 22 | Norwich City | 27 | 27 |
| 23 | Oxford United | 26 | 23 |
| 24 | Sheffield Wednesday | 26 | -7 |
Relegation to League One is now a realistic possibility, given that West Brom have lost seven out of their last nine matches.
Ramsay has to turn the situation around quickly, and he will need to be properly backed to haul the Midlands outfit away from the bottom three.
Bilkul must back Eric Ramsay in transfer market
West Brom are yet to make a single signing this month, despite their current run of form in the Championship.
Friday evening’s defeat to Middlesbrough showed some glimpses of a revival under Ramsay, with Price grabbing his first goal since October and Wallace finding the net from the bench.
On paper, the Baggies squad has more than enough quality to keep them in the division, but with players underperforming, it is still in need of reinforcements.
If Bilkul fail to properly back Ramsay with the funds required this month, then relegation is a real possibility.
West Brom have been linked with Sebastian Jurado in recent days, and addressing their goalkeeper issues would go a long way to improving the results.
With Norwich next up at The Hawthorns, nothing but three points will be acceptable.
