Keith Hackett reacts to Samuel Iling-Junior controversy in West Brom vs Norwich

West Brom were on the receiving end of a poor decision in the 5-0 loss to Norwich, Keith Hackett has said.

Oscar Schwartau and Ali Ahmed gave Philippe Clement’s side a comfortable lead against Eric Ramsay‘s Baggies.

The Hawthorns outfit fought to try and come back, but that only led to three more goals for the visiting side.

An incident involving Samuel Iling-Junior has seen the ex-PGMOL chief speak out after the Championship contest.

What did Keith Hackett say about West Brom vs Norwich controversy?

West Brom’s performance was miserable, but they did create some chances, and one saw Iling-Junior pick up the ball on the flank in the 65th minute.

He was then brought down by a wild challenge from a visiting player, which left him on the floor for a few seconds afterwards.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Hackett said:“This challenge is certainly reckless and the law states the following- reckless is when a player acts with disregard to the danger to, or consequences for, an opponent and must be cautioned (yellow card).”

Ramsay cannot complain about decision after The Hawthorns shambles

Normally, a manager would have the right to complain about such a decision going against his side, but Ramsay does not have that after such a drubbing.

A booking and perhaps a free-kick would not have changed the way that the game went, or the result for the beleaguered boss.

The 34-year-old’s focus needs to be on coming up with a system that can keep Albion in the second tier, because right now, they are in serious danger of going down to League One.

He cannot waste energy or time moaning about refereeing errors that did not go his side’s way.

He has to use some of that time begging the board for new additions to his squad, as well as working with the players on the training pitch.

It must be said that it is not Ramsay’s fault, but he may be the wrong appointment, at the wrong time, as his system is clearly not working.

He needs to change it, otherwise, his time in the dugout will likely end in tears, for everyone involved, and the Throstles will be back in a familiar position, looking for a new boss.
