West Brom hero Matheus Pereira sends message as contract agreed, Filip Krovinovic reacts
Matheus Pereira is still a cult hero at West Brom.
Pereira notched 20 goals and 26 assists in a magical spell at West Brom, then departed The Hawthorns four years ago.
Pereira’s time at Cruziero looked to be coming to an end, and he was linked with a return to English football.
However, Baggies supporters can stay calm, he is not returning to play for a different club in this country after his latest update.

What has West Brom icon Matheus Pereira announced?
West Brom fans would love for Pereira to come back to the Black Country, but he is set to stay in his homeland for now.
He announced on 21 January that he has extended his contract with his current club, although he did not share the length of the new deal.
Taking to Instagram, he sent a message, saying: “These stars have done a lot for me and we will strive to make them shine even brighter.
“Happy for the renewal. happy for what we have planted, and may God willing we will harvest it in the best way we can. To God be the glory always.
Filip Krovinovic, who played with the Brazilian 41 times for Albion between 2019 and 2021, reacted by liking the post.
Pereira’s strange career path explained
Pereira started out with Sporting in Portugal, making 27 appearances for the Green and White Lions, and spending time on loan with Chaves and German side Nurnberg.
He then joined the West Midlands outfit initially on loan for the 2019–2020 campaign, where he lit up the Championship, before making a permanent move.
He joined for £9million ahead of the 2020–2021 season, scoring 11 goals and notching six assists in the top-flight, but could not prevent relegation to the Championship and fell out with Valerian Ismael, who was the boss at the time.
| Team | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Sporting | 27 | 6 | 4 |
| Chaves | 30 | 8 | 5 |
| Nurnberg | 21 | 3 | 2 |
| West Brom | 77 | 20 | 26 |
| Al-Hilal | 42 | 3 | 15 |
| Al Wahda | 10 | 1 | 4 |
| Cruziero | 126 | 19 | 26 |
He left for Al-Hilal in August 2021 for an undisclosed fee, and was loaned to Al Wahda in January 2023 until June.
The 29-year-old returned to Brazil with Cruziero on loan for the 2023–2024 campaign, before making the move permanent in June 2024 for around £5m.
How Albion supporters would love to have him back in the squad at the moment, and given his crazy career path so far, it would not be much of a surprise if he did return one day.
It would be a dream to have somebody with his playmaking ability at the moment, with Eric Ramsay’s side seemingly set for a relegation battle.
