West Brom handed big Fisayo Dele-Bashiru boost as Lazio close in on his replacement

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is a player that West Brom are reportedly interested in signing.

West Brom reportedly hold a genuine interest in Dele-Bashiru, who has fallen out of favour with Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri.

Albion face some stiff competition for his signature though, with Nottingham Forest also understood to want Dele-Bashiru before the 2 February deadline.

Eric Ramsay is hoping to add one or two new signings before the window shuts, as the signing of Max O’Leary remains the only new arrival at The Hawthorns this winter.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa winger Louie Barry has also been linked with West Brom, who are preparing to travel to Portsmouth on 31 January in a huge relegation six-pointer.

Lazio set to free up Fisayo Dele-Bashiru for West Brom transfer

West Brom are in desperate need of some attacking invention, with just 32 goals scored in 29 Championship games so far this season.

Losing the likes of Tom Fellows and even John Swift has blunted the Baggies’ cutting edge considerably, with much of the creative weight now falling on Isaac Price‘s shoulders.

Even Mikey Johnston has gone off the goal production boil in recent weeks, with no goal or assist from his last five Championship appearances.

Therefore, it’s no surprise to see Ramsay searching for external avenues to bolster his attack force, and Dele-Bashiru is a player he’s seemingly sweet on.

West Brom fans are hoping to see Dele-Bashiru sign too, and they’ve just moved considerably closer to getting their wish.

That’s because according to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio via X on Monday, Atalanta attacking midfielder Daniel Maldini has arrived in Rome to complete his move to Lazio.

With Dele-Bashiru also being an attacking midfielder, Maldini looks set to be his direct replacement, as Lazio will now surely look to accelerate an exit for him in the coming days.

West Brom should feel confident of beating Forest to Dele-Bashiru

On the face of it, signing for Nottingham Forest over West Brom could be seen by many as somewhat of a no-brainer given the respective position of the two clubs in the pyramid.

However, given that Dele-Bashiru has made just nine Serie A appearances this season with no goals or assists, he’d surely be some way off the starting XI at the City Ground.

On top of that, if there’s on position Forest don’t need an upgrade at it’s in attacking midfield, with Morgan Gibbs-White a proven Premier League star.

Therefore, Dele-Bashiru, if he’s more interested in getting playing time, should see West Brom as the far greater opportunity.
