West Brom could undergo full reset as transfer plan laid out before deadline – Expert
West Brom are in desperate need of new players as they look to avoid relegation under Eric Ramsay.
West Brom drew 1-1 with Derby on Friday, and the result leaves them just three points clear of safety in the Championship.
Shilen Patel is under pressure from fans to deliver, yet the chairman has reiterated that the Baggies won’t spend much in the winter transfer market.
Max O’Leary moved to West Brom from Bristol City earlier this week and became Ramsay‘s first signing as Albion boss.
However, there isn’t much hope that the new head coach will be given the opportunity to add more quality to his squad.

West Brom on course to have PSR reset in the summer
The Baggies spent heavily in the summer transfer window, and it looks as though they are feeling the after-effects in January.
It was even suggested that West Brom signing nobody would be “fantastic” for PSR, with the cycle resetting in the upcoming summer.
Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, finance expert Dan Plumley explains that West Brom‘s lack of transfer activity in the winter will have huge benefits ahead.
He said: “You’ve got a very different financial context in the Championship. We’re still under PSR calculations for West Brom. They might actually move to squad costs, as the Premier League does, in the future.
“What we have seen in the context of West Brom is that pre-Christmas, their owners were fairly vocal in the media in saying that fans shouldn’t expect many signings.

“They have been burdened by the financial performance of the club in years gone by, so I think that was to be expected.
“Also, it allows for a big reset of the club financially, and it sets them on a better footing for the summer.
“Therefore, I think it’s unlikely that it will change in the final few days of the window.”
It mustn’t go unnoticed that Patel saved West Brom in a time of need and rectified their severe financial issues upon arrival.

Championship relegation could set West Brom back several years
However, it’s the form on the pitch that ultimately counts, and Ramsay has been given a huge task to try and get the Baggies out of this mess.
Ramsay is backed to succeed by West Brom supporters, although he has certainly gotten off to a worrying start.
After two home defeats and no wins in three matches, all he needs is a victory to ease the tension among the fans.

Ryan Mason’s disastrous spell in charge has left the Baggies in a precarious position, and it would seem unthinkable for them to be relegated.
West Brom are not spending in January to put themselves in a good position for the summer, but whether they are in the Championship or League One is an entirely different proposition.
If Ramsay does lead the team to safety, then the Baggies will have a war chest to spend from in the summer, and the future may finally start to look bright again.
