West Brom green light late loan exit ahead of deadline

West Brom are not done with their winter transfer dealings as they try to stay in the Championship.

As the season nears February, West Brom fans will be thinking, how has it come to this?

The decision to appoint Ryan Mason as West Brom’s head coach last summer didn’t pay off, with the 34-year-old given his marching orders in early January.

It didn’t take long for West Brom to swear in Minnesota United boss Eric Ramsay, but he is winless in his first three games in charge.

As West Brom attempt to beat the drop to League One, some academy products may struggle for minutes as the Baggies look to more experienced players.

West Brom starlet Oliver Bostock nearing loan exit

Oliver Bostock has been with West Brom since the age of six. After slowly working his way up the club’s youth ranks, he signed a first professional contract in March 2024.

At the end of that campaign, he was named West Brom’s academy player of the season, and towards the end of last term, Bostock was picked in several first-team squads.

Last September, the 18-year-old winger signed a two-year deal with West Brom, and then a month later, he made his senior debut against Millwall.

The teenager scored the winning penalty against Swansea in the FA Cup this month, but West Brom are prepared to let him leave on loan, according to Sky Sports journalist Mark McAdam.

He states that the Wales Under-19 captain is attracting interest from clubs in League One and League Two, as the Baggies seek more experience for him.

Will West Brom be active in the transfer window?

With the Baggies sitting 20th in the Championship, Ramsay’s West Brom could do with more additions, especially due to injuries to Krystian Bielik and Karlan Grant.

However, it seems West Brom may look to the loan market as they bid to not fall afoul of the league’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

So far, West Brom’s only addition has been Bristol City goalkeeper Max O’Leary, but more quality will be needed to help Ramsay’s cause.

They have been linked with a move for Aston Villa winger and former West Brom youngster Louie Barry, which could bolster their attack.

And Lazio’s Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is also on West Brom’s radar. But time is running out to get deals done before 2 February.
