Brandon Thomas-Asante hails ‘class’ West Brom ace, says he’s best player he’s played against this season

West Brom have had to watch on as Brandon Thomas-Asante has become one of the Championship’s most lethal forwards with Coventry City.

The Baggies bought the forward from League Two side Salford City in the summer of 2022, in what many thought was a bizarre move at the time.

Thomas-Asante proved to be a success for Albion and was a consistent goal-scorer under Carlos Corberan.

But when Coventry came knocking on the door with an offer of over £2million for the Ghanaian, West Brom couldn’t turn it down in the midst of a battle with Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Regardless, Thomas-Asante fondly looks back at his time at The Hawthorns and still seems to have a good relationship with Josh Maja.

Brandon Thomas-Asante has been impressed by Josh Maja this season

Maja has taken somewhat of a back seat for West Brom this season, as the forward has suffered with injury difficulties.

Aune Heggebo’s positive performances have meant that Maja has struggled for game time, but with Eric Ramsay now here, things could change.

The EFL’S official Instagram account asked multiple stars from the Championship down to League Two who, in their opinion, is the best player that they’ve come across this season.

Thomas-Asante was asked, as he gave a heartwarming shoutout for his former team-mate, Maja.

He replied: “I’d go either Maja for West Brom or Imran Louza at Watford, both class players.”

Thomas-Asante has been on fire himself this season, so Maja must’ve done something right to impress the former Baggies striker.

Why Eric Ramsay can get Josh Maja back firing again

Ramsay’s transition at West Brom is going to take time, but with that, unexpected revelations can be found.

The Baggies boss has got things wrong to start with, but now is the time to implement the philosophy slowly, with the Play-offs practically out of sight.

Ramsay had no issue in getting his forwards firing at Minnesota United, and with patience, Maja could burst into form.

It’s easy to forget just how good the Nigerian was when he was fit last season, and all he may need is one goal to get back to regular scoring ways.

Time will tell, but Ramsay is certainly not short of number nines who know how to find the back of the net.
