West Brom have big chance of sealing next new signing by Sunday afternoon as player named
West Brom have a “good chance” of completing a deal to re-sign Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba on loan within the next 48 hours.
That’s according to Daily Mail journalist Tom Collomosse, who reported via his personal X account on Friday afternoon that the Baggies could wrap up a deal for the 19-year-old by around 5:30pm on Sunday.
Jimoh-Aloba spent 10 years on the books at the Albion before leaving to join Aston Villa in 2023 in a deal worth £1million.
Chelsea and Man United had been keen on Jimoh-Aloba before he made that move to Villa.
The Birmingham-born attacking midfielder failed to make a senior appearance for West Brom, but he’s since played six times for Aston Villa’s first team, scoring his first goal for them on Thursday night in a 3-2 Europa League win over Red Bull Salzburg.
What Don Goodman thinks of West Brom players leaving for Aston Villa
Albion fans are tired of seeing their best young players leaving to join Villa.
Jimoh-Aloba, Tim Iroegbunam, Rico Richards, Finn Azaz, Finley Thorndike and Keilan Quinn are among those who’ve made the switch in recent years, while former Baggies talents Morgan Rogers and Louis Barry have also found themselves at Bodymoor Heath after brief spells elsewhere.
Henry Winter has recently spoken about how impressive West Brom’s academy production is, dating back as far as Chris Wood, who’s racked up £55m in transfer fees since leaving the Black Country for Leicester in 2013.
Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman exclusively told West Brom News in July 2024 that Villa’s scouring of West Brom’s academy is something that’s been happening for a very long time.

“They have a history of poaching young talent from clubs,” he said.
“I can name several they’ve had from West Brom, such as Ugo Ehiogu, so there’s a history there also in looking at that market – one they’ve done particularly well in over the years.”

Unai Emery’s latest quotes about Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba
It’s difficult to say it, but Unai Emery has done a superb job at Villa Park.
For all the youngsters who’ve left West Brom for Villa in recent years, they’ve at least tried to bed a fair few of them into the first team.
Jimoh-Aloba made his Premier League debut this term as a substitute against Arsenal, but his biggest achievement was no doubt his goal against Salzburg.
After finding themselves 2-0 down, Villa got back into the game with goals from Rogers and Tyrone Mings, before Jimoh-Aloba scored in the 87th minute to win the game for Emery’s side.

Speaking after the game about the ex-Baggies talent, Emery said: “I’m very happy and of course today was a match played with some potential players we have who are young in the academy, developing with them.
“And today they had an opportunity to play, George [Hemmings], then Jamal and Kadan [Young]. Of course, Jamal scored a goal, which was really fantastic.“
He added: “It is necessary to give them chances, and those three players play, George and then Jamal and Kadan, I think it’s a good opportunity for them. They got experiences and played how we needed in the plan we have with them.
“To get a victory, to play with some players like them and create in this competition something with our supporters’ feelings for it… I think it is very important.”
