Former West Brom boss Slaven Bilic snubs Championship return as relegation battle hots up

Slaven Bilic isn’t keen on a Championship job after leaving West Brom six years ago.

The Croatian has been linked with many jobs in recent months, with West Ham being one side to target Bilic before Nuno Espirito Santo was hired.

Bilic was supposedly in the running at Rangers before Danny Rohl signed at Ibrox, with the ex-Baggies man yet to find a new role.

Supporters at The Hawthorns are longing for the 57-year-old’s days as Eric Ramsay continues to struggle at West Brom after just four matches.

The new head coach is under pressure in B71, all while Bilic has turned down the chance to take up a second-tier role.

Slaven Bilic turns down Blackburn Rovers job

Bilic had most recently been linked to Blackburn as the one-time Premier League champions go in search of a new head coach.

The Ewood Park club previously sacked former Albion manager Valerien Ismael, with the Frenchman failing to get a positive tune out of his side this campaign.

Rovers are on level points with the Baggies right now, and they are looking for a head coach to drag them away from a relegation battle.

It seemed as if the ex-West Ham was the man they had chosen to guide them up the Championship table, but that appointment is now off the cards.

Alex Crook reported on Saturday that Bilic has turned down a move to Ewood Park after links emerged earlier in the week.

The Croatian has reportedly told Blackburn that he doesn’t want to become their manager in the middle of the season.

West Brom to benefit from Bilic snub

The former Baggies boss may have just done his old side a massive favour in what is set to be a gruelling relegation battle.

West Brom have been shocking in recent weeks and are currently sitting in the bottom three ahead of their clash with Stoke City.

If results and performances don’t turn around quickly, there is every chance that The Hawthorns will be watching League One football next season.

There needs to be an element of luck with the sides around the Albion, with hopes from B71 that their rivals will struggle for form themselves.

With Bilic rejecting a move to Blackburn, it could have an impact on their fortunes, something which may prove to be good news for Ramsay’s side.
