Sky reporter depressed by scenes at The Hawthorns – ‘Not good at all’

The Hawthorns is not a venue brimming with energy and positivity right now, as proved the case in Saturday’s 0-0 draw between West Brom and Stoke City.

Eric Ramsay is already facing West Brom sack talk after his dismal start to life as Albion head coach, with no wins from his four Championship games coming into Saturday’s clash with Stoke.

Indeed, West Brom’s last league win came in a 2-1 victory over QPR on 29 December last year, with the Baggies now staring down the barrel of a potential relegation to League One.

There is not only a feeling of frustration among the Albion support at the moment, but also one of apathy, as captured on Saturday.

Sky Sports reporter details ‘depressing’ Hawthorns atmosphere

West Brom played out a 0-0 draw at home to Stoke on Saturday, doing little to aid them in their fight against relegation.

Both teams are on poor runs of form at the moment, with the Potters winless in their last four Championship games coming into Saturday’s match.

Mark Robins’ side have slipped into a mid-table place as a result, and are now beginning to lose touch with the play-off places.

As such, both sets of supporters weren’t in the liveliest of moods when kick-off rolled around at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon, as outlined by Sky Sports reporter Aaron Paul who was covering the game on Soccer Special.

“This one is called ‘can’t win, won’t win’,” Paul began.

“Stoke winless in their last four, and I’ll tell you what, this could be one of the most depressing games of football out there. It’s not good at all.”

Paul’s mood clearly did not improve as the game went on, as he went on to describe what he had seen as “absolutely dreadful” near full-time.

West Brom supporters might be the team’s only hope of survival

When performances are as poor as they are right now at West Brom, and financial concerns off the pitch, it can be very difficult for supporters to feel motivated enough to get behind their team.

It’s totally understandable, and the players are offering precious little for Baggies fans to get excited and passionate about in that regard.

However, in times such as this one, the fans can often be the last line of hope a team has to drag themselves over the line, and The Hawthorns is one of the most intimidating venues in the Championship when it’s rocking.

So, as hard as it may feel for many Albion supporters to want to get behind this current crop of players and coaching staff, it could make all the difference if they do.

This West Brom team needs their fans right now, and if The Hawthorns became a cauldron of noise once again, that could see them pick up enough points on home soil to see them over the line.
