Eric Ramsay sack decision hours away at West Brom if Shilen Patel has any backbone

Shilen Patel is the man under the most pressure at West Brom.

West Brom crashed out of the FA Cup on Saturday, with Norwich City cruising their way to a 3-1 victory at Carrow Road.

Not only does it leave Albion to play out the rest of the season without the hope of a cup run, but it also leaves Ramsay in search of his first win as West Brom manager.

The 34-year-old has taken charge of seven games for the Baggies, with three draws and a shocking four defeats in that time.

And after the latest defeat, his time is surely up.

West Brom must sack Eric Ramsay now to avoid disastrous consequences

If West Brom get relegated to League One, there will not be one positive to look at.

Those who have shown some quality this season will be off, and it could be a long road back to the Championship for the Baggies.

But as things stand, that is exactly where Ramsay is taking them, having shown no signs of improvement since Ryan Mason was sacked. In fact, there’s been even more regression.

This current West Brom side not only lacks any real attacking threat, but they also look incredibly suspect at the back, hence the shocking defensive record.

Albion have conceded 15 goals in Ramsay’s seven games in charge, while having scored just four.

The manager is always the one to take the pressure when things go bad, and this time is no different, but there is now also plenty of pressure on Patel.

If he truly wants to keep Albion in the Championship, Ramsay must be sacked within hours.

What are West Brom’s relegation chances?

Leicester City’s points deduction has given Albion some hope of avoiding the drop, but that will quickly be diminished if they fail to start winning games.

As things stand, Opta have Albion as having a 34.5 per cent chance of relegation, with an expected points tally of 51.

If that were to be the case, it would see West Brom finish 22nd in the Championship, but on level points with Blackburn and Portsmouth.

The biggest concern is that Pompey have two games in hand on the Baggies, having beaten them 3-0 at the end of January.

West Brom are in for a tough ride between now and the end of the campaign, and that will only be made worse if Ramsay is in charge.
