Eric Ramsay sack couldn’t be any clearer as dreadful new reveal highlights West Brom mess
Eric Ramsay is sleepwalking his way to the sack at West Brom already.
Ramsay was appointed by Shilen Patel on 11 January following Ryan Mason’s departure, and there was a lot of hope that he could turn the dreadful situation around at The Hawthorns.
However, he is winless in seven games, and Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Norwich City in the fourth round of the FA Cup has left supporters asking for him to be dismissed.
The Baggies are also 20th in the Championship table, with just two points separating them from 22nd-placed Leicester City.
Ramsay hasn’t overseen the change he desired, and he can’t argue against the calls for him to be sacked, as his West Brom side haven’t been in a winning position during his tenure.

West Brom have not taken the lead under Eric Ramsay
The most damning thing that can be said about the team is that they never look like taking the game to their opponents.
West Brom have not taken the lead once since Ramsay took charge, as they have only scored in three of his seven games.
The Baggies’ two goals against Middlesbrough came when they were 2-0 down, while both of their goals against Derby and Norwich were equalisers.
| Stat | Ramsay |
| Wins | 0 |
| Draws | 3 |
| Losses | 4 |
| Goals scored | 4 |
| Goals conceded | 15 |
It’s incredibly hard to avoid losing football matches when you are constantly reacting to your opponents, and the Baggies haven’t scored first in a game since their last Championship win against QPR on 29 December.
While that stretches back to Mason’s spell in B71, Ramsay has done nothing to address the lack of mentality that the majority of the players have.
The Baggies have suffered 12 defeats away from home in the Championship this season, last losing more times on the road in a league campaign back in the 2008-09 (13).

It’s an undeniable fact that the players have been appalling, and Ramsay must take some of the blame for making the team worse.
Some of Eric Ramsay’s biggest mistakes are unacceptable
His most glaring error was persisting with a 5-2-3 formation, which proved to be woeful.
Isaac Price and Samuel-Iling Junior both played in wing-back positions during different games, and heavy defeats to Norwich and Portsmouth saw him scrap the system after four matches.
Ramsay’s comments in press conferences haven’t gone down well, most recently by saying that he was “satisfied” with his team’s performance after being knocked out of the FA Cup on Saturday.
The 34-year-old has also made questionable choices when it comes to his starting lineup.
Aune Heggebo, one of the Baggies’ best players under Mason, has only completed 90 minutes under Ramsay once since his arrival, and was an unused substitute in the 3-1 loss to Norwich.
It’s safe to say he isn’t getting it right in B71, and there are very few fans who can argue against him being sacked.
If the Baggies lose at home to Coventry in their next match on Saturday, then his time in charge could be cut short less than six weeks in.
