Ferrari F1 team unintentionally share West Brom throwback
Before Wednesday, former West Brom defender Allan Nyom had no connection to Formula 1, but now he does.
In a hilarious and totally unintentional throwback to Nyom, Ferrari’s F1 team posted a video of their car on track to their X account ahead of the new 2026 F1 season that starts on 8 March.
The admin of Spanish LaLiga side Getafe’s X account is presumably a big F1 fan too, as Ferrari’s post somehow made it’s way to them.
Spotting this as a great opportunity to honour their player, they simply shared a photo of Nyom posing in a Getafe shirt, with the one-word caption of “Ferarri”, paired with a racing car emoji.

How has Allan Nyom been getting on since leaving West Brom?
Signed by West Brom in the summer of 2016, Nyom became an important and well-loved figure around The Hawthorns during his time as a Baggie.
Capable of operating anywhere across the defensive line, the Cameroon international quickly established himself as a key part of West Brom’s starting lineup in the Premier League under Tony Pulis.
Nyom would start 29 of his 32 top flight appearances for Albion in the 2016-17 season, before going on to start 25 of his 29 Premier League outings in 2017-18.
However, after suffering relegation to the Championship that year, Nyom joined Spanish side Leganes on loan for the 2018-19 season, before signing permanently for Getafe in the summer of 2019.
From there, he’d spend two-and-a-half years with Getafe playing over 80 times for them, before re-signing for Leganes in January 2022.
Another two-and-a-half years were spent with Leganes playing in the second tier of Spanish football, before Nyom once again signed for Getafe on a free transfer in October 2024.
He’s been with them ever since, and has so far made 10 LaLiga appearances for them this season, despite now being 37-years old.
How West Brom would love a Nyom in their team right now
Loved by the Baggies faithful for his versatility and personality, Nyom will always be fondly remembered around The Hawthorns.
And how Eric Ramsay would love a player like him in his squad right now, as he would’ve been able to provide a real leader at the back who could plug any gap asked of him.
West Brom have had a real issue at right-back all season, with George Campbell injured, Alfie Gilchrist being largely underwhelming and Danny Imray struggling since joining on loan from Crystal Palace this winter.
Nyom wasn’t the most technically gifted defender West Brom have ever had, but he was industrious and full of character, and he’s exactly what Albion could do with right now.
