Millie Pullen quits West Brom Women just months after signing permanent deal

Millie Pullen’s return to West Brom is already over after the club confirmed her exit.

On 28 September last year, West Brom Women announced that attackers Pullen and Mia Sorrentino had joined the club on permanent deals.

Manager Siobhan Hodgetts-Still was delighted that Pullen, who joined The Hawthorns outfit on a “dual-registration deal” from Birmingham City during the 2024-25 season, was back at the club.

She said at the time, “We’re really excited to welcome Millie back. She can play through the middle and out wide. She has great pace, movement, and an eye for goal. We believe she adds real quality to our squad. We’re really looking forward to working with her again.”

However, on Wednesday afternoon, West Brom announced that the 21-year-old had departed the West Midlands outfit.

West Brom explain reason behind Millie Pullen’s departure

West Brom have played 12 National League North matches this season and have picked up four wins, three draws, and five losses.

That has put them seven points above the relegation zone in seventh but a whopping 26 points adrift of league leaders Burnley, who have played three games more.

Winger Pullen featured 11 times for West Brom this season but now she is off to pastures new.

In a statement, the club said: “Albion Women can confirm forward Millie Pullen has left the club to explore an opportunity overseas.

“Everyone at West Bromwich Albion wishes Millie all the best for the future.”

It remains to be seen where Pullen, who has also represented Manchester City and the Republic of Ireland at youth level, will go and in what division she ends up.

West Brom were looking forward to a Women’s Challenge Cup clash with Wolves at Alexander Stadium on Sunday but that was postponed.

West Brom miss out on Women’s National League Cup glory

Last month, West Brom secured something of an upset as they beat Wolves on their own patch in the quarter-finals of the FA Women’s National League Cup.

Despite National League North promotion hopefuls Wolves sitting 20 points ahead of them in the league at the time, Hannah George’s 51st-minute winner proved the difference at SEAH Stadium.

That led to a deluge of support online for the Baggies.

However, they came up short in their last four match against FA Women’s National League South side Bournemouth on 8 February.

Goals in either half from Georgia Dee Wilson and Jenna Markham sent West Brom to a disappointing home 2-0 defeat.

Their search for silverware goes on, and without Pullen – who came off the bench in the final three minutes of the contest.
