West Brom target ‘reset’ already amid growing concerns over Eric Ramsay
West Brom are looking to the end of the season as a good chance to “reset” if they can manage to avoid relegation.
Right now, the Baggies are just two points above the drop zone, and the impending threat of going down is hanging over Eric Ramsay‘s head.
The head coach, who was hired in the middle of January, has yet to pick up a win, and with a game against Championship leaders Coventry on the horizon, that run could be extended.
Writing for The Telegraph, journalist John Percy has detailed that getting to the end of the season without relegation is the “light at the end of the tunnel” as the Midlands club eyes that aforementioned reset.
Avoiding relegation will allow Shilen Patel more room to manoeuvre in regard to spending, as “the shackles of Lai’s bewildering regime will be removed significantly at the end of this season”.
However, trust in Ramsay has been increasingly dropping over recent weeks, it is reported, with doubts that he is the man to reach that target.

Growing doubts over Eric Ramsay at West Brom
There is a certainty that things need to change at West Brom, but making those changes mid-season can be tough to enact.
In terms of managerial appointments, the same concerns apply, and many at The Hawthorns were not overly confident in hiring Ramsay.
According to John Percy, “some senior figures felt the current squad were not capable of flourishing under a different set-up and formation so late in the season”.
So far, those doubts have been validated, and results at West Brom have not been trending upwards since Ramsay’s arrival.

Despite only being brought in last month, there is a general feeling that the Englishman’s role is far from safe, with supporters unhappy with the job he is doing.
Why West Brom can’t afford to wait as relegation looms
If things do not start changing quickly, the Baggies cannot afford to stand still and hesitate over a decision regarding Ramsay.
The reset at the end of the season could be a real turning point for West Brom; however, that will not be possible if they drop to League One.
Relegation would not only dent morale among fans, but financially it will provide a big hit to West Brom amid their rebuild.
For Patel, the long-term objective will be to become a Premier League club, and staying up this year could progress that goal quicker.
In order to protect that ambition, the ownership need to decide whether they truly trust Ramsay to turn things around while survival is still possible, or else they risk making a decision when it becomes too late.
