Eric Ramsay may have just signed off on own West Brom sack after post-Coventry comments

Eric Ramsay sounded like a broken man following West Brom’s 2-0 defeat to Coventry City on Saturday afternoon.

West Brom‘s latest loss at The Hawthorns, combined with Leicester City’s 2-2 draw at Stoke City, leaves the Baggies one point outside the Championship relegation zone.

Ramsay remains without a win in eight games as West Brom manager and the pressure is growing more and more by the week.

While the 34-year-old was only appointed a little over a month ago, it is becoming increasingly apparent that his spell at West Brom will be a short one.

And Ramsay’s comments after the loss to Coventry certainly will not fill Albion fans with much confidence that he is the man to turn things around.

Eric Ramsay finds positives in latest West Brom loss

Ephron Mason-Clark and Jack Rudoni put Coventry two goals ahead with a little over half an hour played in the West Midlands.

The Baggies offered next to nothing in response on what was yet another day to forget for Ramsay and his players.

Ramsay cut a dejected figure at full-time and likewise in his post-match press conference with Sky Sports.

“I’m incredibly disappointed with the manner of the two goals we conceded,” he said. “But there’s an element of satisfaction with the response and that we could compete at a good level.

“The balance of play was relatively even, aside from the two moments which we look back on with a sense of regret.”

The fact Ramsay can even attempt to take any positives from what he saw across the 90 minutes is laughable.

So laughable, in fact, that he may even have just signed off on his own sack.

When could inevitable Ramsay sack happen at West Brom?

If Ramsay does survive the sack on the back of the Coventry loss, it seems inevitable he will be given the shove sooner rather than later.

Albion have a home clash with Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night, before travelling to Oxford United next weekend.

Shilen Patel simply cannot afford to sit around and hope things turn around. The Baggies are heading to League One unless a change is made – and now.

The performance against Coventry was evidence enough that Ramsay needs to go, but defeat to Charlton – which seems nailed on – would surely leave Patel with no choice.

The fear among the West Brom fanbase is that Ramsay’s sack may come too late for the next new manager to be able to steady the ship.
