Darren Moore shares what Eric Ramsay will be happy with at West Brom as he faces sack

Eric Ramsay is on the brink of the sack after West Brom crashed to a 2-0 defeat against Coventry on Saturday afternoon.

The latest loss at The Hawthorns leaves the Baggies one point outside the Championship relegation zone with 13 games to go.

Ramsay remains without a win in eight games as West Brom manager, and speculation over his future continues to rumble on.

While the 34-year-old was only appointed on 11 January, it is becoming increasingly clear that his spell in B71 will be a short one.

As fans continue to voice their discontent, ex-Baggies manager Darren Moore has revealed the ways in which Ramsay will be pleased with his players.

Darren Moore claims Eric Ramsay will be happy with some of his West Brom players

The 51-year-old is West Brom through and through, having coached the youth teams before stepping up as the caretaker manager in April 2018.

Moore led the Baggies to the Championship playoffs in 2018-19, where they were knocked out in the semi-finals by eventual winners Aston Villa.

Since then, he has had managerial spells at Doncaster, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield, and, most recently, Port Vale, where he was sacked on 29 December.

Speaking on Sky Sports on 21 February before the loss to Coventry, Moore thinks that Ramsay will have some positives over his spell in charge so far.

He said: “I’m sure he’ll be seeing one or two qualities in the group that he’ll be happy with. He’s probably not gotten the rub of the green in the last few games, and they have had clean sheets in their last two matches [before Coventry].”

Up next for the Baggies are two games that could define their season, and they need to bounce back quickly at home to Charlton on Tuesday.

They then travel to 23rd-placed Oxford United on Saturday, and West Brom’s Championship status would be under major threat if they fail to win either game.

West Brom fans certainly aren’t happy with Ramsay

It’s also undeniable that a loss on Tuesday could signal the end of Ramsay’s time in charge.

Since his arrival, West Brom have not taken the lead once, as they have only scored in three of his eight games.

A couple of clean sheets mean nothing in the grand scheme of things, as the Baggies simply can’t score themselves.

Ramsay’s comments in press conferences haven’t gone down well, most recently by saying that he was “satisfied” with his team’s performance after being knocked out of the FA Cup fourth round by Norwich City on 14 February.

But most importantly, he doesn’t have the backing of the fans, and it would take a miracle for him to avoid being dismissed before the end of the season.

Ramsay’s days are numbered in B71, and as the fans deserve much better, there should be no reason for him to be happy.
