West Brom line up Will Still appointment as Eric Ramsay sack news emerges

West Brom are considering a move for Will Still if they opt to sack Eric Ramsay.

West Brom are at serious risk of relegation this season, and with Ramsay yet to win a game as Baggies boss, he is under increasing pressure.

A report from Sportsboom states that Albion are already considering axing him from his role at The Hawthorns, and they have set their sights on former Southampton boss, Still, to keep them in the Championship.

It’s believed that West Brom are looking to bring him in on an interim basis if that were to be the case.

The Baggies face Charlton at home on Tuesday night, and anything less than a win could see Ramsay sacked after just nine games in charge.

Eric Ramsay’s future hanging by a thread at West Brom

Given the lack of time left in the season to avoid relegation, it’s a surprise to many that Ramsay wasn’t sacked after West Brom‘s defeat to Coventry.

That clash left him winless in eight games across all competitions, having only avoided defeat in three of them.

Ahead of the final 13 games of the season, the Baggies sit just one point above the drop zone, and four points behind Blackburn Rovers, making it increasingly likely that it will either be themselves or the Foxes who drop into League One.

Blackburn face Bristol City at home on Tuesday, and a win could take them seven points above the Baggies if they fail to avoid defeat against Charlton.

And if that were to be the case, Ramsay’s position as manager would become even more untenable than it is now.

Will Still would be a big risk for West Brom, here’s why

Still was sacked at Southampton because the results simply weren’t going his way.

The performances were there, and that was backed up by the stats, but the Saints were looking as though they were heading for the same position that West Brom found themselves in now before he was axed.

And while he would almost certainly improve the football at The Hawthorns, it’s hard to say whether he has the level of man management required to captivate a side that have lacked confidence all season.

If West Brom are to get out of their current predicament, they need someone with a proven track record to come in and steady the ship, much like Leicester have tried with the appointment of Gary Rowett.

As for who that would be, it remains to be seen, but the next appointment has to be perfect or else League One beckons, and it will be a long road back.
