Magical Carlos Corberan reunion could yet be on for West Brom amid new Valencia update

West Brom have been given some faint hope of bringing Carlos Corberan back to The Hawthorns ahead of next season.

Corberan was a huge fan favourite at West Brom prior to leaving for hometown club Valencia in December 2024.

The Spaniard has seen himself under big pressure for most of the 2025-26 season, although he has managed to ride the worst of that.

While Corberan’s future has appeared a lot more stable in recent times, Tribuna Deportiva reports all is not so well behind the scenes.

Carlos Corberan exit update emerges from Valencia

The report adds that, despite Valencia now being outside of the LaLiga relegation zone, the team’s improved results have not translated into improved performances.

Those behind the scenes at the Mestalla still have serious doubts over Corberan, with CEO Ron Gourlay – formerly of West Brom – a rare public backer.

It is reported that there are real doubts over whether Corberan will still be in charge come next season.

However, Valencia would have to pay off the 42-year-old, so they would rather wait for a club to pay up some of that fee.

That opens the door for West Brom to pounce for a manager who was surely happier at The Hawthorns compared to the Mestalla based on reports over the past six months or so.

If not Corberan, then who next for West Brom?

James Morrison has been placed in temporary charge of Albion following this week’s sacking of Eric Ramsay.

There are suggestions Morrison could stay in charge of West Brom until the summer, which is a huge risk on Shilen Patel’s behalf.

Beyond that, a few familiar names have appeared in the running to become next Baggies boss.

Russell Martin, out of work since his disastrous Rangers tenure was brought to an end in October, is second-favourite behind Morrison.

Sean Dyche, Slaven Bilic and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are also said to be in the running, as is England Under-21 boss Lee Carsley.

Whichever direction Albion go, Patel has the biggest call of his tenure to make.

Corberan would surely be the fans’ top choice, but that would only be possible if West Brom avoid relegation to the third tier.
