West Brom next manager latest: Darren Moore new favourite as James Morrison given ultimatum

West Brom are seemingly spiralling out of control as they try to stave off relegation to League One, while searching for their third manager of the season.

West Brom made the bold appointment of hiring Ryan Mason for his first senior management role last summer but his reign ended in January following a poor run of results.

The former Tottenham interim boss lasted less than eight months but his successor, Eric Ramsay, was in charge for just nine games before being sacked.

West Brom are out of the Championship relegation zone by a solitary point, and had it not been for Leicester City’s six-point deduction for breaking Profit and Sustainability Rules, they would be in the bottom three.

As the Baggies look for a new head coach to lead them at The Hawthorns for the final stretch of the season, West Brom News has provided a round-up of some of the leading candidates for the role.

Will Carlos Corberan make an eye-catching West Brom return?

Carlos Corberan did an excellent job at West Brom between 2022-24 before joining Valencia on a three-year deal.

The Spaniard guided the Liga side to safety last season but this term, it has been harder going for the ex-Leeds United coach.

Tribuna Deportiva states that all is not well behind the scenes at Valencia, with doubts mounting that Corberan will not be in charge when next season rolls around.

This has given West Brom hope that Corberan could be available in the summer.

However, Valencia would have to pay off the 42-year-old, so they would rather wait for a club to fork out some of that fee.

That could open the door for West Brom but a return to the Baggies seems unlikely for a while yet, particularly as they could get relegated.

The Spanish top flight will be more appealing than the English third tier.

Sean Dyche’s West Brom odds shorten; Darren Moore favourite

Recently sacked Nottingham Forest boss Sean Dyche has been among the favourites to succeed Ramsay at West Brom.

On Wednesday morning, the ex-Everton and Burnley manager was installed at 6/1 favourite for the position, with former Rangers boss Russell Martin at 5/1.

However, since then, both Martin and Dyche have slipped down the pecking order, with the former at 8/1 and the latter at 10/1.

Nottingham Forest: October 2025-February 202640

The likes of old West Brom fan favourite Slaven Bilic has also been mooted, with ex-Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a bit further back.

For now, it seems unlikely that Dyche, who will regard himself as a Premier League manager, will drop down to a Championship relegation struggler.

Instead, Moore is the current frontrunner with some bookies to take over at West Brom.

Old West Brom favourites in the running for Baggies hotseat

Reports suggest that first-team coach James Morrison could land the West Brom job this weekend. He is likely to take charge of their huge clash with lowly Oxford United on Saturday.

However, he is said to be vying with fellow former West Brom player and manager Moore for that role as of Friday.

Moore did a good job at West Brom in the past but his recent stint at Port Vale, where he was sacked by the League One side in December, could hurt his chances.

And it has been suggested that Morrison has been given a West Brom ultimatum of sorts, as he has been told the job is effectively his if he wins games and keeps Albion up.
