West Brom fans fully behind James Morrison as caretaker boss says what they’re all thinking

James Morrison’s third caretaker spell has resulted in his first loss as West Brom manager, and relegation is now dangerously looking close.

The Baggies lost to fellow strugglers Oxford United 2-1 on Saturday afternoon, as former West Brom loanee Will Lankshear scored what proved to be the decisive goal.

Morrison did not hold back in his post-match press conference, with the former Scotland international digging into his own players.

The 39-year-old has shown he clearly cares about the Hawthorns club, and fans have since been reacting to his words.

How have fans been reacting to James Morrison’s West Brom press conference?

Morrison’s press conference after losing to Oxford United has been catching a lot of traction with supporters of the B71 outfit.

His words have appeared to hit the nail on the head with a majority of the Baggies faithful, who have been left disillusioned by performances this season.

After the defeat, Morrison spoke about how he felt let down by the squad, and his comments felt like that of a fan rather than a manager.

Now, West Brom supporters have been publicly responding, and here is what has been said.

One Baggies fan stated on X: “Lovely to hear a manager say the same as what we are seeing/saying. Refreshing.”

Which was echoed by many others.

Plenty of others also felt that sympathy towards the caretaker manager, with the players seemingly taking the brunt of fan frustration.

Finally, one fan said on X: “Wish the the players had an ounce of Morrison’s character and care for the club. Fair play to him calling them out. They are a disgrace.”

While many online have also been questioning some of Morrison’s team selection decisions, overall it seems the caretaker has said exactly what fans have been feeling following the loss to Oxford.

Where do West Brom go from here?

Right now it seems hard to suggest the direction the Baggies should head in; as if the players are not up for the challenge of keeping West Brom up, attracting a manager capable of that job will be difficult.

The situation is certainly dire, and if the performances do not quickly trend upwards, it will not be long until relegation is confirmed at the Hawthorns.

Bilkul must make a decision quickly over their next manager, whether that is a new hire or keeping Morrison.

Keeping the squad and the 39-year-old in limbo is not the right environment to allow a team to improve.

Supporters also need that clarification over the direction of West Brom. There is now plenty of time for that decision to be made, as the Baggies’ next match comes against Sheffield United on 7 March.

Hopefully, Shilen Patel can make a final decision that ultimately puts the B71 outfit on a positive trajectory.
