Ollie Bostock contract situation explained amid latest West Brom antics
Ollie Bostock was a rare positive in West Brom’s 2-1 defeat to Oxford United on Saturday.
Bostock had already shown nerves of steel in the FA Cup third round when he scored the last penalty in the shootout against Swansea City to take the Baggies through.
The West Brom academy talent then made an impression when he replaced Mikey Johnston in the clash with the Yellows, firing home a 25-yard screamer to reduce the deficit.
Here, West Brom News analyses his contract situation at The Hawthorns as the hype surrounding him looks set to rise.

How long is Bostock contracted for?
Bostock signed his first professional contract with Albion in March 2024, which was set to keep him in the Black Country until 2026.
The 18-year-old winger put pen to paper to stay with his boyhood club until 2027 when he signed a new deal in September 2025.
He looks to be on track to earn a fresh renewal in the near future, as the West Midlands outfit try to keep hold of their best talent.
What did Bostock say after extending West Brom terms?
Bostock reaffirmed his commitment to earning a first-team berth with the B71 club after signing his new deal.
Speaking after his stay was extended, he said: “This contract has made me realise the faith the club have in me and how much they want to see me succeed.
“Last year was a successful one on the pitch, scoring goals, getting assists, and they got me around the first-team squad.
“I want this contract to take me into first-team football, whether that be here or on loan, that’s the next step which can benefit me and make me a better player.”
That suggests that the youngster is comfortable with his current club, and does not plan on leaving anytime soon.
What has senior West Brom figure said about Bostock?
Academy Manager Richard Stevens was delighted when Bostock agreed fresh terms with the club.
He believes that Albion will do all that they can to make sure that the Wales youth international succeeds in making it at the senior level.
Speaking after the extension was confirmed, he said: “It was important for us to ensure Ollie’s long-term future was at Albion.
“We will make sure he gets everything he needs to develop and grow into the footballer we know he can become. To progress in this industry, you have to have a strong mentality, and Ollie challenges himself and is the type of footballer who is going to take risks.
“He has got that mentality where he can take risks and make magical things happen, as we saw last year in the Youth Cup and in some of the 21s games.
“His good moments are memorable and we hope to see more of those during his performances in the future.”
Interim boss James Morrison needs to hand Bostock more opportunities to make an impression in the closing stages of the season.
He has already shown that he is not scared to make the step up and produce at the top-level, and he may have a chance with Johnston out injured, with the timescale on his issue unclear at the moment.
He now needs to make sure that he grabs it, and gives the hierarchy a reason to keep him around for even longer than he is already signed up for.
