Daryl Dike reacts as crushing West Brom injury announcement made

Daryl Dike has reacted to the news of West Brom teammate Mikey Johnston’s ankle injury.

West Brom have had a wretched time of it in 2025-26, a fact highlighted by the Baggies already looking for their third manager of the season.

Ryan Mason was sacked in January, and fellow 34-year-old Eric Ramsay was given his marching orders in late February.

There haven’t been many positives to speak of for The Hawthorns outfit this term, but Johnston could be a contender to enter that conversation.

However, the Republic of Ireland international is now set for a spell on the sidelines due to a stress fracture as the Baggies’ campaign goes from bad to worse.

West Brom hold their breath over Mikey Johnston injury

Like West Brom, Johnston brilliantly started the season, chalking up three goal contributions in as many games.

However, the 26-year-old’s 11 goal contributions in the Championship all came in the first half of the campaign.

Indeed, Johnston hasn’t scored a goal in the league since 18 October in a 2-1 win against Preston North End, and his last assist was in a 2-1 victory at home to Queens Park Rangers on 29 December.

West Brom reportedly rejected interest for Johnston – who has played 34 games in the league so far – in the January transfer window, as the Irishman tried to keep the Baggies in the Championship.

As his form has dropped off, so has West Brom’s, with the Midlands outfit hovering just above the relegation zone.

After the news of his stress fracture injury was announced on Wednesday morning, striker Dike has liked the Instagram post, as fans wished him a speedy recovery.

Who will lead West Brom during their relegation fight?

West Brom sit 21st in the Championship, just one point above the relegation zone.

Had it not been for Leicester City getting deducted six points, the Baggies would be in the bottom three.

Next up, they travel to Sheffield United on Saturday, before hosting play-off chasing Southampton four days later. In the meantime, they are also looking for a manager to guide them to safety.

Former West Brom boss Darren Moore is the bookies’ favourite to take over, but it seems the Baggies only want someone in for the rest of the season.

Caretaker manager James Morrison is in the running alongside his ex-Baggies manager Slaven Bilic, who guided the club to Championship promotion in 2020.

After two poor appointments, West Brom can ill afford to get their next one wrong. Else, relegation beckons.
