Alex Mowatt axed in two James Morrison changes – West Brom predicted XI vs Sheffield United

James Morrison could drop Alex Mowatt from his starting line-up for West Brom’s Championship clash with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday.

The Baggies need to respond with all three points against Chris Wilder’s side after their 2-1 loss to Oxford United last weekend.

Luckily for Morrison, he knows that he’ll be in charge of the team for the remainder of the season after West Brom confirmed the news on Wednesday.

Although Sheffield United have won three of their last five games, this is one of the more winnable away matches on West Brom’s fixture list, and Mowatt could be one of two players axed from the team.

Alex Mowatt replaced by Ousmane Diakite in two changes

Mowatt was impressive in the early stages of the campaign, but his form has completely dropped off.

The 30-year-old midfielder has made two errors leading to goals this season, which showcases how poor he has been on the ball.

Against Oxford United, he was lacklustre in the centre of the park and displayed little aggression as the Baggies slumped to another defeat on the road.

As a result, Ousmane Diakite could come into the team after remaining on the bench for last Saturday’s game.

The Mali international has been a bright spark for West Brom, and he would add a lot more energy to the midfield.

The other change could see Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba replace Mikey Johnston on the left wing following the Republic of Ireland international’s season-ending injury.

Although Ollie Bostock excelled against Oxford United, it’s still unclear whether Morrison will give him first start for the Baggies.

What has Opta’s supercomputer predicted for West Brom vs Sheffield United?

The reverse fixture between both sides at The Hawthorns saw the Baggies win 2-0 courtesy of goals from Aune Heggebo and Karlan Grant.

However, it’s on the road where West Brom have struggled most, with their last away win coming in October.

According to Opta‘s supercomputer, the Baggies are expected to lose on their travels once again.

While those odds are incredibly bad, the Baggies will take some confidence in the fact that the Blades have lost seven times at Bramall Lane this season.

Morrison will cling to that piece of hope as he looks to inspire his squad to secure all three points and extend the gap between themselves and the relegation zone.
