Jamie Carragher predicts whether West Brom can complete 29-year feat vs Sheffield United

Jamie Carragher doesn’t hold much hope for West Brom against Sheffield United.

The Baggies are desperate to get a win on the board, with zero league victories achieved since the start of 2026, with Eric Ramsay facing the same end as Ryan Mason already.

James Morrison has been confirmed as the Baggies’ head coach until the end of the season, and he will be looking to get his first win following that announcement.

Morrison took over in a caretaker capacity against Oxford United on Saturday, where West Brom failed to overcome the U’s, losing 2-1.

Now, he will be aiming to rectify that result against tougher opposition in Sheffield United as the Baggies sit just above the Championship relegation zone.

What did Jamie Carragher predict for Sheffield United vs West Brom

Carragher has had his go at predicting six of this weekend’s matches over on Super 6, with West Brom’s clash against Sheffield United one of the fixtures.

Earlier in the season, West Brom won the reverse fixture 2-0 at The Hawthorns, so the squad could have confidence heading into Saturday’s fixture.

If they can follow that result with one of a similar ilk, it would be the first time since the 1997-1998 season that the Baggies have beaten the Blades twice in the same league campaign.

Additionally, it could be the first time West Brom have achieved back-to-back wins against the Bramall Lane side since 2018.

However, Carragher does not see that happening, as he has gone with Chris Wilder’s side to secure a 2-0 win.

In the last three games, West Brom are unbeaten, with two of those aforementioned draws coming over that stretch of matches.

While history may paint some optimism for the Baggies, fans will not look too much into it, as recent performances have left little to hope for.
