West Brom fans react to Dominic Price appointment as Ian Pearce resignation suggested

West Brom have confirmed the appointment of new technical director Dominic Price on Thursday.

There had been lots of talk about the Englishman’s arrival in the weeks leading up to his appointment, and his role at The Hawthorns has now also been confirmed.

Price has already begun his work and will oversee various sectors of Albion, including developing squad strategies, football technology, and other areas of technical analysis.

He joins the Baggies after a three-year stay with Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv in the same role, and Shilen Patel will hope his appointment will come

The news comes after it was confirmed earlier in the week that James Morrison will continue to lead West Brom until the end of the season, with Matt Gill also added to the interim boss’s backroom staff.

West Brom fans react to Dominic Price hire

After the dismissal of Andrew Nestor, the Baggies seem to be hoping to provide more on-field success in the coming years.

Price is an example of that, as he comes to the Baggies a man with a strong track record, considering the success that Maccabi Tel Aviv had.

West Brom fans will be eager to see Price succeed, and have good reason to believe that Patel has made a positive appointment.

However, it still seems like Ian Pearce will remain in charge of recruitment following this news, something that Baggies supporters are not happy about on X.

Another Baggies fan said: “Looks like Pearce will still be in charge of transfers then. What a shambles. Hopefully, Price can get the academy churning out multiple first-teamers every season. We’ll need it with Pearce in charge of transfers”

One West Brom fan said: “Announce Pearce’s sacking or resignation”

What has Shilen Patel said about Price appointment?

While Patel and Co. may reassess Pearce’s future in the summer, right now, the hiring of Price could be one that pays off.

Patel hasn’t been heard much recently as the Baggies continue their fight for survival in the Championship, but he has spoken about his decision to offer Price the job.

Albion’s owner said, as quoted by West Brom‘s official website: “I am pleased to welcome Dom to the club. I look forward to him contributing his perspective, practices, and enthusiasm to our efforts to continually improve.”

It comes at a big time, and as Patel has said, he hopes that Price’s arrival will benefit the Black Country Club not just this season, but in the years to come.

It’s certainly an appointment that will only prove results over the long-term future, and one that supporters may have to be patient with.
