Chris Lepkowski reveals behind-the-scenes chaos at West Brom as ‘recipe for disaster’ claim made
Shilen Patel and Co. have made last-ditch efforts to save West Brom from relegation to League One.
The changes have included the sackings of Ryan Mason and Eric Ramsay, as well as the recent update on James Morrison’s situation at The Hawthorns.
The interim boss will now lead Albion for the rest of the season in an attempt to avoid relegation from the Championship, and will now be joined by new addition Matt Gill behind the scenes.
Dominic Price has also been appointed as the Baggies’ new technical director, but supporters won’t get excited about Patel‘s decisions just yet.
West Brom fans have questioned what has been going on behind closed doors for the Black Country Club, and it seems Chris Lepkowski has been told further details on some of the chaos.

Chris Lepkowski says people think West Brom are run like a video game
With 11 games left for the Baggies to play, it is well and truly crunch time, but the club feel like Morrison is the man to lead the side into a dog fight.
Albion would not be in this mess to begin with had several decisions not been made in the build-up, but now Patel and Co’s. failures are becoming clear to see.
- West Brom have six home games left to play
- They have yet to win a league game in 2026
- Albion have scored just three goals in their last five games
While commenting on X this Friday, Lepkowski revealed words he’s heard from someone “well-connected” in the football industry, who knows about what’s going on at West Brom currently.
Lepkowski wrote: “One well-connected person told me that there are folks there running the operations like it is Championship Manager .
“When people within the game are saying that about a professional football club – a full member of the EFL, no less – then you clearly have a recipe for disaster.”
In the modern-day game, data is becoming more important for football clubs, though the eye test is the one that never fails.
If West Brom are data led, then how have they produced these stats?
The use of data and modern technology in football today is more than understandable. The game is evolving fast, and changes are being made to the club structures and models for transfers and the style of play.
However, the Baggies seem to have gone backwards this season, and if data is the primary source of focus, then that clearly needs to change.
- West Brom average 51% possession
- They have an average Sofascore team rating of 6.72
The Baggies average just under one goal per game, having only netted 34 times in 35 matches. They miss 1.4 big chances per 90 minutes and win less than half of their duels.
It’s time for a change this summer, but let’s just hope that Morrison can at least instil some fight for the final stretch of fixtures.
