Sheffield United vs West Brom preview: Team news, lineups and prediction
West Brom are aiming to secure their first Championship win in 2026 when they travel to face Sheffield United on Saturday.
James Morrison’s side sit just one point above the relegation zone, and it’s safe to say that the fear of relegation is growing every week in B71.
Last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Oxford United was incredibly damaging to the team’s morale, and with the likes of Ipswich, Hull and Millwall still to play, the Baggies know that they have to start securing wins immediately.
As for Sheffield United, they’re 13th in the table, and Chris Wilder has done a brilliant job since returning to the club in mid-November.

Head-to-head
The last meeting between both sides saw the Baggies win 2-0 at The Hawthorns thanks to goals from Aune Heggebo and Karlan Grant.
However, the Baggies haven’t won at Bramall Lane since 2018, losing three of their four trips to the Steel City ever since.
It must be said that they are unbeaten in their past three games against Wilder’s side overall, and Morrison will be praying that his team can secure their first away win since October.
But Sheffield United are also aiming to go five home games unbeaten against West Brom for the first time since 1994.
Overall, West Brom have won 49, lost 46 and drawn 30 matches with Sheffield United.
Team news and predicted lineups
The big news for West Brom is the absence of Mikey Johnston, who fractured his ankle in the defeat to Oxford United.
He joins Tammer Bany, Chris Mepham and Grant on the sidelines, but Morrison has the rest of his squad available.
The new head coach may opt to use Ousmane Diakite in midfield at the expense of the ineffective Alex Mowatt.
Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba could also come back into the team, replacing Johnston on the left-hand side.
As for Sheffield United, Kalvin Phillips is still suspended, while Tom Davies and Sam McCallum remain sidelined.

Sheffield United predicted XI: Davies; Hoever, Tanganga, Davies, Burrows; Brooks, Peck, Riedewald, O’Hare; Campbell, Bamford,
West Brom predicted XI: O’Leary; Campbell, Bielik, Taylor, Styles; Molumby, Diakite; Wallace, Price, Jimoh-Aloba; Maja
How I predict Sheffield United vs West Brom to finish
At this point, predicting West Brom to win a game of football feels completely foolish.
Sheffield United have won three of their last five games, with their most recent victory coming against QPR last weekend.
The Baggies have been incredibly slow at the start of matches in recent weeks, and they can’t afford to be sluggish against the likes of Tyrese Campbell and Patrick Bamford.
The hosts will probably come out on top, with a 2-0 scoreline being the most likely outcome.
