Eseosa Sule’s West Brom contract situation examined as Under-21 exploits continue
Eseosa Sule continued his goalscoring form for West Brom Under-21s in their Premier League 2 win over Ipswich Town on Friday.
The 19-year-old had previously scored a brace in a 4-2 win for the young Baggies over Derby County on 2 March.
He calmly finished a low effort past the goalkeeper to put his side in the lead on 7 March, and looks to be the next West Brom youngster to earn a first-team berth if he carries on.
Here, West Brom News looks at his contract situation at The Hawthorns.
What is Sule’s contract situation at West Brom?
Sule signed for Albion from Celtic in January 2023, and put pen to paper on his first professional contract just four months later in May.
He agreed to fresh terms in July 2025, which moved his contract expiry date to 30 June 2027, so he still has a year and three months left.

Surely if he continues in this vein of form, the B71 club have to tie him down to a new deal, before he is allowed to leave for free.
What decisions do West Brom have to make?
The Baggies have two choices that they can make regarding Sule’s future, but both have to involve getting him to sign a new contract.
James Morrison should promote him to the first-team for the rest of the campaign, as they are crying out for some fresh impetus in attack to try desperately to avoid relegation
If he performs well, then he can be a regular option in the senior side, and a new deal means that he is sticking around.
If he does not, he goes back down to the youth team, until he is deemed ready to play for the first-team, but his future is secured either way.
Once he has established himself as a regular option for the seniors, then the decision will be to keep him, or sell him on for big money, to try and improve the club’s financial position.
However, supporters are surely sick of seeing their best academy stars leaving, so Sule should be kept around, especially given that Albion’s financial situation is getting better.
They can’t keep selling their most promising talents, that will only drive the fans away.
