Taylor Reynolds previews ‘physical battle’ as West Brom Women target Halifax response

West Brom Women are preparing to face Halifax on their travels in the FAWNL Northern Premier on Sunday.

The Baggies are aiming to bounce back after successive 3-0 away defeats against Burnley and Stoke.

Siobhan Hodgetts-Still’s side sit seventh in the standings, after picking up 18 points from 15 outings.

West Brom have seven league matches remaining, alongside a big Birmingham Challenge Cup semi final against Wolves next week.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s clash against Halifax, defender Taylor Reynolds has emphasised how important the physical side of the game will be.

Albion came out on the wrong side of a 3-0 scoreline against fellow Midlanders Stoke last time out, and are aiming to bounce back this weekend.

“I think we can be a bit disappointed with Sunday,” Reynolds said. “Both in and out of possession, they wanted it a bit more in the first half, but in the second half – we came out and battled.”

Goals from Evie Priestley, Delphi Cole and Ruby Millingter sealed the deal for the Potters on the day, seeing the Baggies leave empty handed.

“I felt if we put our chances away, it could’ve been a different game,” added Reynolds. “We thought we allowed Stoke too much space, we allowed gaps to open up and didn’t defend as well as we normally do.”

Looking ahead to Sunday, Reynolds said: “We can’t afford to lose any more points, Halifax is a must-win for us, and we definitely want to be out there with Stoke and the rest of the teams come the end of the season.”

The Baggies sit seventh in the standings as of now, with Sunday’s hosts Halifax just three points and a place behind them.

“I think the important thing is to be clinical in-front of goal on Sunday against Halixax,” added the defender.

“Every chance we get needs to be put away, because we’ve seen against them previously that we can get punished. It can be a very scrappy game, and sometimes, as seen against Rugby Borough and Wolves – we can match that physical battle.”

“It’s all about getting back to training, taking our chances, and we’ll do our best. We’ll give our all and try to get three points.”

West Brom aiming to bounce back after poor run

Albion head into Sunday’s clash looking to respond after back to back away defeats against promotion chasing sides Burnley and Stoke.

After the setbacks, Hodgetts-Still’s side remain in a mid-table position, though they sit too far away for any promotion ambitions of their own to arise.

Opponents Halifax sit three points behind the Baggies, and three points ahead of the relegation spots, and will be looking to potentially drag Albion slightly into trouble by replicating their feats of earlier this season.

The Eagles secured a narrow 1-0 win at the Alexander Stadium back in November, and will be looking to do the same on home soil.

Though for Albion, they are looking to get back to winning ways and carry momentum into next weekend’s semi-final against Wolves.
