West Brom given helping hand elsewhere, they simply must capitalise

West Brom will be grateful to Sindre Walle Egeli as he helped earn Ipswich Town a 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Saturday.

The Baggies themselves were also involved in a 1-1 draw, as George Campbell scored goals at both ends in the encounter against Sheffield United.

Oxford’s win against Preston on Friday left both West Brom and Leicester sitting in the relegation zone, as both sides looked for their first wins under James Morrison and Gary Rowett respectively.

The Foxes had looked to be on for that for large periods before Egeli’s equaliser with under 15 minutes to play.

Albion have been given a helping hand by Ipswich, and now they simply must capitalise.

West Brom and Leicester locked in fierce relegation battle

Ahead of a round of midweek fixtures, Albion remain outside the bottom three thanks to results elsewhere, while their performance at Bramall Lane was positive.

For large periods, Morrison’s side looked like a side ready to go on and win the encounter, while the equaliser in front of the travelling contingent should provide a shot of confidence ahead of the clash with Southampton.

Since Rowett’s move to Leicester, they haven’t quite been able to get over the line, having squandered leads against both Stoke and Ipswich.

The Tractor Boys find themselves in the promotion race after being relegated to the Premier League with Leicester last term, and went a long way to further pile the misery on Leicester, giving Albion a helping hand in the process.

West Brom presented with chance to push on

At this stage of the season, points are simply a must – no matter who they come against.

Since Rowett’s appointment, Leicester have faced multiple sides flying high in the division alongside a resurgent Norwich, taking three draws and losing just once in the process.

The fixture list now presents an opportunity for the Foxes, with the difficulty level significantly lowered over the coming weeks.

Leicester host both Bristol City and QPR in the space of a week – two fixtures that look much more presentable than their recent run.

The Baggies welcome Southampton and Hull to The Hawthorns, where they simply have to capitalise on Saturday’s point, despite both visitors being in the promotion picture.

Following the late equaliser, West Brom should have been given a shot of confidence. Taking this into midweek now, is simply a must.
