Mikey Johnston contract latest: Everything West Brom fans need to know amid transfer speculation
West Brom star Mikey Johnston’s future is up in the air after he suffered a potentially season-ending injury.
The 26-year-old has notched two goals and nine assists this season, making him Albion’s most dangerous player, but he will likely play no further part due to a stress fracture in his ankle.
Some observers believe that Johnston may have played his last game for West Brom, given that there is likely to be significant interest in his services in the summer.
That idea seems even more likely if The Hawthorns side are relegated down to League One at the end of the campaign.

What is Johnston’s contract situation at West Brom?
Johnston is still on the four-year contract that he signed when he joined the Baggies permanently from Celtic in 2024.
That means his current deal in the Black Country does not run out until the summer of 2028, meaning that the B71 side have complete control over the situation, even if any interested parties come forward.

Obviously, if they are relegated, their position is likely weaker, given that he probably won’t want to play in the lower division, but they should still command a decent fee.
What Johnson said about signing for West Brom
Johnson admitted after signing that deal that he has a brilliant connection with the club, which came from his initial loan spell where he spent a season with them.
He said: “It feels right that I’m here. I’m really happy to be here.
“I was driving down the M6 and I couldn’t stop smiling. I’m buzzing to be here.
“From day one, I got off to a really good start and the fans took to me and I took to them right away. I felt the love the whole time I was here last year and I’m just buzzing to be back.
“This move was definitely something I always wanted to happen. I didn’t think it would be possible. I thought the only way it would be possible was if we won promotion. Now that I’m back, it feels a bit surreal.
That suggests that he would not mind staying with the West Midlands club, given the relationship he has with the supporters.
Who could come in for Johnston?
Johnston came close to moving to Brazilian side Flamengo last summer, but that move ended up falling apart.
He is understood to have turned down offers from Trabzonspor and other clubs in the winter window to try and help the Baggies’ survival hopes.
It remains to be seen who comes forward in the summer to try and take the Irishman, but hopefully the fact that he is contracted until 2028, puts any interested sides off trying to achieve a deal.
They just need to stay in the second tier, and they should be able to see off any potential suitors for the winger, who has really stepped up this season.
