West Brom appointment imminent as ‘familiar face’ set for Hawthorns return
West Brom are expected to announce another new appointment either this Monday or Tuesday.
That’s according to the highly-respected West Brom account on X, EyaWeGew, who has suggested that the arrival will be a “familiar face” to The Hawthorns, sparking excitement online from Baggies fans.
It’s believed that the impending addition will be someone who will go straight into James Morrison‘s backroom staff, which comes shortly after Matt Gill’s arrival.
Shilen Patel has been busy with new Albion hires recently, and West Brom supporters are eager to find out who the figure is coming back to the Black Country Club.
Who are West Brom fans predicting the appointment to be?
Patel welcomed Dominic Price as Albion’s new technical director last week, who will join Ian Pearce in the off-the-field running of the club.
But with Morrison arguably the most important individual heading into a crucial final stretch of Championship figures, any backroom help will be welcomed.
- West Brom have nine league games to save themself from relegation
- The Baggies sit one point above the Championship’s relegation zone
After the news was teased on X this Monday, Baggies fans have gathered to make their predictions on who will be the new individual to link up with Morrison’s team.
It’s not expected to be Dan Ashworth, given the appointment is coaching-related, as some Baggies supporters have a feeling that Gareth McAuley could be the man heading back to Albion.
Claudio Yacob was also mentioned, but time will tell, as, regardless, fans will hope that it’s someone who will make a genuine difference from now until the end of the season.
Why Shilen Patel deserves credit
Patel has clearly been active in recruiting backroom improvement, whether that be for club directors or coaching staff, he’s trying to make a positive difference.
The West Brom owner hasn’t made the best decisions in the past couple of months, but one thing he has done is still proactive.
Many owners have too big an ego to not make these types of moves, and while Patel may not be fully influential behind them all, he certainly has a final say.

It’s still all to play for with nine games to go, and the point against Sheffield United last time out cannot be understated.
It’s no coincidence that West Brom showed an improvement after Gill’s arrival, as Morrison will also be hopeful that the imminent mystery arrival can bolster his side further for the run-in.
