Injury latest emerges as seven stars could miss out in West Brom vs Southampton

West Brom are preparing to face Southampton in their next Championship outing.

The Baggies travelled to Bramall Lane last time around and secured a much-needed point against Sheffield United in their battle against relegation.

George Campbell netted a stunning equaliser to cause a positive mindset in the away end, moving ever closer to the end of the season.

James Morrison will be hopeful of keeping that going into the next outing at The Hawthorns against the Saints.

Things won’t be easy against Tonda Eckert’s side, especially with both outfits fighting against injury problems of their own.

West Brom could miss four stars vs Southampton

The Albion need all the luck they can get right now as they look to steer clear of a drop into League One.

It looks as if the Black Country outfit can’t buy a win, but after the point against Sheffield United, things are looking more positive.

There will be hope of securing a home victory against Southampton, but that won’t be helped by the long-term absence of Mikey Johnston.

He is going to miss the Saints clash due to a stress fracture in his leg, as his recovery is only really getting started now.

The Irishman has joined Karlan Grant, Tammer Bany and Chris Mepham in the treatment room at The Hawthorns, and they also look set to miss out.

Things aren’t as bad for Eckert and Co., although they will potentially be without three first-teamers for their trip to the Midlands.

Mads Roerslev and Wellington may be absent from the backline, leaving the door open for other defensive options to come in.

The same can be said of the forward line if Jay Robinson is to miss out, with the breakout star seemingly a doubt for the Saints.

That may act as a boost for the Baggies, who need any sort of help they can get if they are to get out of the mess they find themselves in.
