Siobhan Hodgetts-Still delighted as West Brom Women ‘set the standards’ in Halifax win
West Brom Women manager Siobhan Hodgetts-Still has said that her side set the standard in their win against Halifax on Sunday.
Monique Robinson’s 93rd-minute winner brought an end to Albion’s run of consecutive away defeats, after losses against Burnley and Stoke.
Sunday’s win leaves West Brom sitting sixth in the FAWNL Northern Premier standings, with games in hand on Middlesbrough ahead of them.
Following the win, Hodgetts-Still was pleased with her side’s showing in Yorkshire.
Standards set by West Brom in Halifax win
Following consecutive losses on the road, the Baggies were in need of a response as they travelled to Halifax.
They provided exactly that, with a late goal securing all three points.
Reacting to the encounter, Hodgetts-Still said: “I’m really happy with that performance. The win was deserved and it was a much-improved showing compared to the last few weeks.
“It was needed within the squad, but I thought the performance from the girls and the effort was tremendous today. You saw what it meant to the players and staff, so we’re really happy with the win and three points.”
Looking back on recent weeks, Hodgetts-Still was keen to outline the difference in standards as Albion beat Halifax.
“Standards-wide, our performance against Stoke wasn’t great and we set those standards with each other in the changing room earlier today. I think they got that performance from each other,” she said.
“The effort and commitment to put into each week, the match on Sunday is all that matters – I’m really happy we didn’t give up to score that late goal. You saw how much it mattered to everyone and we’re really delighted with how today went.”
The crucial aspect for the Baggies now is that they carry the momentum gained into the coming clash against Hull City, before they face local rivals Wolves in the Birmingham Challenge Cup semi-final.

West Brom must take momentum into big derby clash
With a derby clash coming up, Albion must carry momentum as they face eighth-placed Hull City next time out in the league.
Alongside this, they are set to face their Black Country nemesis once again in the league just 11 days after on 29 March.
West Brom Women’s next five matches:
- Hull City – 15/03/26 (H)
- Wolverhampton Wanderers – 18/03/26 (H) – Challenge Cup
- Sporting Khalsa – 22/03/26 (H)
- Wolverhampton Wanderers – 29/03/26 (A)
- Liverpool Feds – 05/04/26 – (H)
The Baggies have managed to reform a gap to the drop zone after the recent poor run.
But they must carry the momentum into the coming weeks, with a big derby double header on the horizon – something that could result in silverware, with either side of the Black Country duo set for a cup final against Rugby Borough, after they overcame Aston Villa in their respective semi-final.
