Supercomputer predicts if West Brom will continue dreadful five-year streak vs Southampton
West Brom will return to The Hawthorns when they host Southampton on Wednesday.
The Baggies drew 1-1 with Sheffield United last time out, with George Campbell scoring at both ends to ensure that they didn’t suffer another defeat on the road.
They still sit one point above the relegation zone in 21st place, but Oxford United’s recent resurgence has left fans even more worried at the possibility of playing in League One next season.
James Morrison is still searching for his first win since taking over from Eric Ramsay in February, and he faces a very tough test against a Southampton side that is bang in form under Tonda Eckert.

Southampton predicted as favourites vs West Brom
The Saints are currently eighth in the league, and they haven’t lost away from home since 4 January.
Their last game on the road saw them knock out Premier League side Fulham in the FA Cup fifth round, which certainly isn’t a good sign for the Baggies.
According to Opta‘s supercomputer, West Brom are in for another miserable afternoon in B71.
- Southampton have been given a 46.1 per cent chance of claiming all three points
- West Brom have a 29.3 per cent chance of securing their first league win this year
- A draw has been given a 24.6 per cent probability of occurring
West Brom are winless in their five home league games so far in 2026, last having a longer run without a home win from the start of a calendar year in 2003 (nine).
Southampton have also won eight of their last 10 league games against the Baggies, as many as they had in their previous 22.
When you take into account the fact that the Black Country outfit haven’t beaten the Saints since 2021, it doesn’t look promising that they’ll end that miserable five-year streak.

West Brom have lost three of their last four home league games against Southampton, more than they had in their previous 16, and this might be one of the worst times to face them.
Southampton are aiming to achieve six-year first vs West Brom
The Saints had a dreadful start to the campaign under Will Still, but Eckert has come in and revitalised the team.
They’ve won six of their last eight league games, and the FA Cup win at the weekend will leave their fans hopeful of having a successful season on multiple different fronts.
Southampton are also aiming to score two or more goals in four consecutive away league games for the first time since December/January in the 2019-20 Premier League campaign.
They’re clearly playing the Baggies at the right time, and Morrison will need to ensure that his team is defensively solid at The Hawthorns.
